The Git branch 'new_config_format' contains the work-in-progress Synchronet v3.20a. I just started running this full time on Vertrauen and would appreciate more testers/feedback.

There are CI builds of executable binaries for Windows, but I expect early testers will be *nix sysops or Windows sysops that know how to build from source.

Sweet... does Synchronet watch these files for changes in order to
restart? Didn't know if it was the cnf or a semaphore for that with scfg.

It doesn't currently.

Didn't know if it was the cnf or a semaphore for that with scfg.

SCFG touches the appropriate semfiles to issue the recycle(s) when saving changes.

There's another major change with Synchronet v3.20 that you can now use in the 'new_user_dat' branch (which includes all the changes in the master and new_config_format branches): a new userbase file format

For details, see https://gitlab.synchro.net/main/sbbs/-/raw/new_user_dat/docs/newuserbase.txt

After checking-out ('git checkout') this branch and building, you'll need to run the built upgrade_to_v320 utility to complete the upgrade (from user.dat to user.tab).

After upgrading, any utilities that read or modify the Synchronet user.dat file will need to be replaced (e.g. the Synchronet allusers utility has been deprecated and replaced by allusers.js).
