Is there some way of validating BBSes in the BBS List without having to remember to do it manually all the time? I just want to validate my BBS' entry in the BBS List external running over here. All the others come from the
    message base.

    Thanks!

If you have no changes you can setup a timed event to run SMB2SBL on a monthly basis...

If you increase the number onthe first line of your xtrn/sbl/sbl.cfg file, SBL will remind you and require you to validate your entry less often.

There is already a timed event. It is one of the default ones and set to run at 03:00 every day. I only modified it slightly to use the Fidonet SYNCDATA message area instead of the DOVE-Net one.

I'm just looking for a way to keep this BBS' listing in the BBS List from being deleted. It would be nice if there was an option to not delete an entry at all. I can understand why there is not such an option since the list is distributed, though.

SBL starts sending out notices (during it'sdaily maintenance) for
    entries that

haven't been updated in half the time specified on the first line in
your SBL.CFG file. So, if that's set to 60 days, after 30 days of no edit/validation, SBL will start to warn the entry owner.

Hmmm. I have never seen any notice to that effect. I thought it was automatic actully, as long as I originally registered manually, it would stay there with the downloads of the echo that lists systems.

The listings entered on my system as not scanned out and sent anywhere else. I have that event, SBL2SMB disabled. The opposite event, SMB2SBL, is enabled to update the list from the SYNCDATA message area. ;)

I must say that I've not gotten any notices about pending deletion

I think that Digital Man gave us a clue in his last message. He said that the notices are sent to the entry's owner. Waldo createdthe entry for me so I
guess he is the one getting the notices? Now I need to figure out where they can be found.

Whoops. Hit the wrong key the first time. That might explain then why I never got any notice <G>. Is there someplace, a good explanation on how the Route-to option in BSO format works? I'm missing my route table from the arc attach system, and the ones I tried (for Z2 points) apparently did not like the satatement, as they continued trying to contact the point address, rather then the address it was supposed to route to. Is there some way of validating BBSes in the BBS List without having to remember to do it manually all the time? I just want to validate my BBS' entry in the BBS List external running over here. All the others come from the message base.

I was wondering about this myself...

I must say that I've not gotten any notices about pending deletion in
the past. Will this change make it notify me X days before it is
deleted? Whathappens if I don't see the message until later? I've
just been catching it being deleted when I've gone into the programto
see what systems are listed. It took me a little while to see that I
    could undelete a listing ;)

SBL starts sending out notices (during it's daily maintenance) for entries that haven't been updated in half the time specified on the first line in your SBL.CFG file. So, if that's set to 60 days, after
30 days of no edit/validation,SBL will start to warn the entry owner.

Thank you for that information. Are these notices posted as messages?

    As user telegrams.

Oh! Wait. The notices are to the entry owner?

    Correct.

    Maybe Waldo's account was
getting them since he created the entry for me?

    Most likely.

I'll have to ask him and see. Maybe we can change that?

Probably best to remove it and recreate the entry yourself.

If you create the entry on the Vertrauen then the notice would be sent to your user account on Vertrauen (you would see it when you logged in).

Whoops. Hit the wrong key the first time. That might explain then why I never got any notice <G>. Is there someplace, a good explanation on how
the Route-to option in BSO format works?

    http://wiki.synchro.net/util:sbbsecho under "Route To".

I'm missing my route table from
the arc attach system, and the ones I tried (for Z2 points) apparently did not like the satatement, as they continued trying to contact the point address, rather then the address it was supposed to route to. Could I perhaps just import the complete route table I was using originally
    complete with Except statements?

    No.

Oh! Wait. The notices are to the entry owner?

OK. That makes sense. The sysop doesn't need to be notified each time a user created entry changes.

Maybe Waldo's account was getting them since he created the entry for
    me?

    Most likely.

He said that he remembers seeing some kind of messages about the entry but when he went back to reread them, he couldn't find them in his private message area. :(

I'll have to ask him and see. Maybe we can change that?

Probably best to remove it and recreate the entry yourself.

No thanks. It took too long to get it the way we have it now. It was edited quite a few times to understand the layout when it is displayed. We finally got it looking the way we want it. Now we just need to keep itfrom being deleted
    ;)

I also found that I was able to change the ownership of the entry so I changed it to my handle. Will that work or do I have to use my real name?

To clarify the "layout when displayed" comment. We don't want a bunch of the same connection stuff listed when it is the same for each node the system can handle. At least one system in the list has like 10 nodes and their listing shows the exact same domain 10 times. That's what we wanted to avoid. There was also something about the supported terminal protocols that we played around with getting listed how we wanted.

Thanks for your time and the information! :)

Yeah, it will have to wait until I have some more time to work on this :(, too many other things happening right now. I asked about a detailed explaination for the route command, and was pointed to the wiki, which has a single line, or two explaining only what it is and that it is only there in a BSO setup. What I would like to know, is the order of things, and specific commands. It mentions /ALL but not sure I want to do that. Like I said, in the near future, along with the implementation of IPv6 in my router.
