If you increase the number on the first line of your xtrn/sbl/sbl.cfg file, SBL will remind you and require you to validate your entry less often.

If you have no changes you can setup a timed event to run SMB2SBL on a monthly basis...

I think what he meant was that he was looking for an automated way of updating, rather than having to remember to manually go into SBL and use
"U" to update.
I think I've asked that in the past as well, but I don't think there was
any other way to update yourlisting.

Thank you, sir. I never thought to look for a config file. I've set it to
60 days now.
I must say that I've not gotten any notices about pending deletion in the past. Will this change make it notify me X days before it is deleted? What happens if I don't see the message until later? I've just been catching it being deleted when I've gone into the program to see what systems are listed. It took me a little while to see that I could undelete a listing ;)
SBL starts sending out notices (during it'sdaily maintenance) for
entries that
haven't been updated in half the time specified on the first line in
your SBL.CFG file. So, if that's set to 60 days, after 30 days of no edit/validation, SBL will start to warn the entry owner.

Hmmm. I have never seen any notice to that effect. I thought it was automatic actully, as long as I originally registered manually, it would stay there with the downloads of the echo that lists systems.

We're talking about the Synchronet BBS List database stored on your own system (in the xtrn/sbl/sbl.dab file) if you have the SBL door installed and if you added your own BBS as an entry in the database on your BBS.
I'm not sure what you're talking about. :-)

That is what I thought we were talking about as well. Memory is a bit foggy, but I thought I added it on YOUR system when I first got Synchronet. I may be wrong though <G>. Is there not an echo, or message area, from Dove, that I get as a fidonet echo, that shows this list?

Unfortunately, I think most other systems are set to 30 days? And if most systems (including and most importantly, Vertrauen) are set to 30 days, by the time you get your warning, your entry will already be deleted from the master list.

I haven't gotten any noticed either that Iknow of. But I'm pretty sure you have to go into SBL and update the entry manually using the "U" option within 30 days, or it's auto-deleted from the master list.

Now that I've already given an answer I'm unsure of, I may as well confirm. How many days do you have before it's purged from themaster list (yours
I'm assuming)?
I thought I remember it being 30, but I started having second thoughts so figuredI'd ask.
I went ahead and increased the deletion duration to 180 days (6
months) on Vertrauen, so that shouldn't be an issue now.

If you create the entry on the Vertrauenthen the notice would be sent--- SBBSecho 2.27-Win32
to your user account on Vertrauen (you would see it when you logged in).

It is SYNCDATA on the Fidonet side. I don't know what it is called on the DOVE-Net side.

Thank you for that information. Are these notices posted as messages?
Oh! Wait. The notices are to the entry owner?
Maybe Waldo's account was
getting them since he created the entry for me?
I'll have to ask him and see. Maybe we can change that?

If you create the entry on the Vertrauen then the notice would be sent to your user account on Vertrauen (you would see it when you logged in).
Whoops. Hit the wrong key the first time. That might explain then why I never got any notice <G>. Is there someplace, a good explanation on how
the Route-to option in BSO format works?
I'm missing my route table from
the arc attach system, and the ones I tried (for Z2 points) apparently did not like the satatement, as they continued trying to contact the point address, rather then the address it was supposed to route to. Could I perhaps just import the complete route table I was using originally
complete with Except statements?
Thank you for that information. Are these notices posted as messages?

Correct.

Most likely.

Probably best to remove it and recreate the entry yourself.

Too bad :(. Using Binkd, even Passthru mail is having problems,
and mail destined for points just sits here. Of course none of
those instances have an entry in the sbbsecho nodelist. At least
the rex mailer used its own route tables. Sure wish binkddid.
binkd is a static (aka blackhole) mailer... in many cases, one can use the same routing they used before but it may need to be adjusted for the new tosser's methods... in some cases, that's simple verb alterations while in others, it means reversing the existing table and listing the routings in the opposite direction... in other words, what was the bottom routing statement would become the top one and the top one would become the bottom one... as written in another echo, this depends on the software's methods and if it processed the routing tables from the top (most generic) down (to the most specific)...

Telegrams? Is that something that ends up in the private mail area?
I also found that I was able to change the ownership of the entry so I changed it to my handle. Will that work or d
No, they're stored as files which are displayed to the users if/when they login
