Can someone give me a push in the right direction?

I love Sync, Dislike the Doors (External) menus. Is there already a Baja replacememnt for it or is it possable to even do it?

Note I have looked at baja for about 10 min so I have no idea what it is and
    is not capable of.

yes, telnet over to me and see what I did.
it looks just like a regular menu.

What about the Doors menus don't you like? It's all very configurable, so you should be able to alter appearances quite significantly. WithOUT even going to the extent of coding in BAJA/JS.

    configurable?

Personally I like having Ansi's that are part of the menu. IE for the
Adventure games I want to have an ansi of a knight or a dragon. Just the way that I have always done it. They are configurable, but AFAIK you can not
have ansis for each screen. (group of doors)

Yes you can have a menu (ansi or whatever) for each external program group. Read the "optional menus" section on http://synchro.net/docs/customization.html#MenusAndTextFiles for details.

Personally I like having Ansi's that are part of the menu. IE for the Adventure games I want to have an ansi of a knight or a dragon. Just the way that I have always done it. They are configurable, but AFAIK you can not have ansis for each screen. (group of doors)

The door menus can be completely replaced with any arbitary display you like. The original poster said he didn't like the door menus and since they can be totally replaced, I think that constitutes "very configurable", don't you?

You can create a custom ANSI for the main Door menu (text/menu/xtrn_sec.ans) and then for each sub-section you can do the same (text/menu/xtrn#.asc where # is the section number).

So if all your Adventure games are in section 3, create text/menu/xtrn3.asc with your dragon in it -- and a list of the games, of course -- and you're done.

Hey, DM has fooled me in the past. I wasn't taking any chances of what
    he might have hidden away.

There was a program that made custom xtrn screens based on door usage.
Smeg I beleive had something like that. I tried it but it only worked
one time {shrugs} Apparently one semester of programming isn't quite
enough to allow me to replicate his work.

I did it as a mod to the s3 shell... my own has a command entered for each
door in question.. I created a menu for the doors, instead of the internal xtrn_sec .... I plan on doing a lightbar scroller for an xtrn mod in a
few weeks. will be in use on piranha before any other bbses.

IMO being able to alter command keys and the entire menu structure
constitutes "very configurable". Ansi rotation is just cosmetics.

Point taken, but the original post asked about changing "door menus" and didn't say anything else about changing the entire menu structure or command keys. In that case, I still think it was a fair comment that the "door menus" were "very configurable". And my post implied that even more could be done if BAJA were exercised. So yes, the entire Externals sub-section of Synchronet is "very configurable". No there isn't a Next-Next-Next-Next-Next-Finish "Wizzard" to radically reconstruct the entire structure of the section without any effort by the SyncOp, but so what?
