    Is there a command to strip ANSI code or anything else out of a string and return plain text?

    Thanks.

    There are functions to strip ctrl characters and ctrl-a sequences (strip_ctrl) and extended-ASCII (strip_exascii):

    I'm not sure about stripping ANSI codes, but there are these functions: strip_ctrl(): Removes control codes from a string
    strip_exascii(): Removes extended-ASCII characters from a string
