• IRC Option / Chat Section

From WitNik@VERT/BGGRSCYN to Digital Man on Friday, November 13, 2020 23:43:44
    DM,

I am curious, is there a "best" way to lock in the host/port that a user can connect to off the IRC menu. I plan on setting up the irc.synchro.net and joining the network eventually. I was wondering what the best way to customize the chat section menu so it doesn't prompt the user for input and only connects to the irc.synchro.net network?

    Thanks,
    -WitNik

The default behavior of chat_sec.js is to only allow sysops and C-exempt users to change the IRC server to connect to.

Awesome! So, I'm a victim of my own security level. =)

This is another reminder as to why it's important to test menus both as yourself and as a regular user with whatever default permissions you give
them. It makes sure you know what they're likely to see.

Not a bad idea to test as Guest as well, if you have a Guest account.

I've been using echicken's Web Interface to test Guest level access too. It's handy for checking ARS on message and file areas.
