I have to copies of Synchronet running on separate VMs. One is for message networks (this one) and after deleting the file synch.ans, the Synch logo ans no longer displays.

My other one has been adjusted in modopts.ini to go straight to the External Programs menu as a door server. I also deleted synch.ans on that copy, but the Synch ANSI logo still displays when you connect. Anybody know where it's pulling that file from?

It'd help if you posted a screen capture or something... but my guess is text/banner.*.

Connecting to DoorParty, please wait ...

Not related to your question, but I'm curious.

It looks like you're running 'doorparty.js' upon connection to your door-server BBS. Not sure if this is temporary or if you've misunderstood the purpose of that script. If you mean to use it to connect to your own door server, it should be running on your first BBS, with customizations.

That's what I thought, but I deleted synch.* from my sbbs\text directory and the ANSI still shows up on login.

After reading your comment here, I thought you'd solved the mystery for me. So I deleted lbshell_bg.bin from the sbbs\text directory, but the synch.ans ANSI still shows up on login.

Yes, sorry. I must not have explained by use for SBBS in the original post. I used the rlogin_xtrn_menu=true option in modopts.ini to set this copy of Synchronet up to drop straight to the XTRN area to allow connections to Door Party from my Worldgroup BBS. It's a hack job, but it works...almost. :)

If I can't get that synch.ans logo to go away, it's not a big deal. It's just that on my other copy of Synchronet that I use for DOVE-Net reading/writing, I deleted synch.ans and the logo went away. I did the same thing on the other copy (same version of Synchronet only running on Win 7 instead of XP) and the logo did not go away.

    Thanks for your help.

Files can be copied and ANSI artwork pasted into other files, or even scripts.

I didn't think so and I didn't mean to suggest so. I was just pointing out that that same ANSI artwork has been replicated in other files, likely more than I know.

Sounds like that artwork image is coming from somewhere *else* then. Just trace through your scripts and stuff to find out where.

Worldgroup is my main BBS software. I'm using Synchronet (2 separate copies) for two purposes. One is to provide access to DOVE-Net messages. The other is just to link to Door Party. That's why the script runs on login. You are already logged into my Worldgroup BBS before you connect via Rlogin to that copy of Synchronet. I know it's very inefficient, but it works.

I checked my sbbs\text directory for "banner.*" as you
    suggested, but
    there is no such file.

The ANSI you pasted above is from synch.ans (or .msg or .asc), not
    banner.*.

The file you actually want is in /sbbs/text and is logon.ans took me awhile to figure that out and get rid of it to.. But delete or replace and there you go.
