• Netmail problems

From Mauro Veiga@VERT/ABUTRE2 to DIGITAL MAN on Monday, March 30, 2020 10:28:00
    Hi, Rob.

I have a problem with Netmail after upgrading to version 3.17b after
    two years without updates.

Echomails work well. But after the update, SBBSECHO started create
Netmail packages with the extension .OUT instead of .PKT as it was
before the update. Packets .OUT are sent normally but destination
hubs not process them. If I rename the package to .PKT before
send work fine, Netmail is received.

Is possible set SBBSECHO to generate .PKT Netmails instead of .OUT?
I'm use a batch file for rename packets before send but it's not a
    cool solution.

    I'm using Binkley/FLO on SBBSECHO. I know that Arcmail/Attach
create .PKT Netmails but i need the multiple output folders facilit
on Binkley/FLO configuration. The mailer is IREX.

    TIA

P.S.- Sorry by Google translation. :-)

.?UT files are .PKTs... your mailer is supposed to rename then when it transmits them to the destination mailer...

they should not be listed in .?LO files because their name defines the destination system in hex...

your mailer must also be in BSO mode as sbbs does not support file attach mailers any more...

additionally, fileboxes... if you use them, you should not be copying .?UT or .?LO files into them... their contents are sent without renaming or modification...

Your mailer should be doing the .out -> .pkt renaming. This is standard behavior of a Binkley-Style-Outbound (BSO/FLO) style mailer. This is all detailed here: http://wiki.synchro.net/ref:fidonet_files
And this behavior hasn't changed in SBBSecho... ever.

Is possible set SBBSECHO to generate .PKT Netmails instead of .OUT?

    Not while in BSO operation.

I'm use a batch file for rename packets before send but it's not a

It sounds like perhaps your mailer is misconfigured.

.?LO packets are normal, SBBSecho is doing its thing. Your mailer should be renaming those to .pkt in transit. So I'd be looking to your mailer setup. Make sure it's set to use BSO.
