• SBBSEcho issues

From gregzoll@VERT/ECBBS to all on Monday, March 02, 2020 18:46:37
I finally got everything set up. Now I am seeing that the FSXNet packets inbound are being turned to .bad because they cannot be determined what was used to archive them. I can open them up in plain text in Gedit and do a Hex dump, just cannot get them to port into the proper forums.

Please post the relevant warnings or errors messages from your data/sbbsecho.log file.

Also, the [node:*] section of the relevant link from your ctrl/sbbsecho.ini file would be helpful too.

What are the first few bytes of that file? You can dump it with hexdump (a.k.a. hd) and just post the first few lines of output (not the whole thing). Or you can just run 'file /sbbs/data/fido/inbound/secure/11bf5460.SA9', that should tell you what type of file it is. I'm guessing you don't have that particular archive file type (whatever it is) configured in your sbbsecho.ini/echocfg.

It comes up as data. I can go through the dump with no problems. I have reached out to Avon regarding what is going on. I do show my initial message out on FSXnet when I look but never got anything back in. I was looking at Binkd today, SBBSEcho is setup as the Wiki walkthrough shows with the changes needed for FSXnet and Micronet.

That's an uncompressed packet. It's not archived bundle. That's fine, but the filename should be *.pkt, not be something like *.SA0.

I think the issue is that your 'areas.bbs' file is wrong. See
right there above where it says "FSX_CRY: (Unknown) Skipped'...

For reference, my FSX net portion of 'areas.bbs' looks like this:

    FSX_GEN FSX_GEN 21:2/100
    FSX_MYS FSX_MYS 21:2/100
    FSX_MAG FSX_MAG 21:2/100

    FSX_ENG FSX_ENG 21:2/100

It has to match what you've configured for each echo, including

This is what I get if I try and rename the .bad packet for Saturday with an
    arbitrary number at the end.

ermmm... those are raw PKTs not bundles with one or more pkts inside... leave them as pkts and then see what sbbsecho says about them...

It was because the compression setting was wrong for fsxnet. Everything is straightened out now.

you really do not need to use bundles... i've been doing raw pkts for probably a decade now... it saves time and resources not having to execute zip and unzip all the time...

    Everything is straightened out now.
