Im trying to add some networks to my bbs. Its being remotely hosted and the server uses linux. Ive tried using the put command to upload subs.txt and it says it uploads but when i go to synchronet config from the external programs and try to import it its giving me and open error. Since im not used to doing everything as a remote user and not familar with linux just wondering if anyone has any ideas?

I figured it out. Now the new areas show up in scfg but not on the bbs. If I wasnt having it remote hosted I would recycle everything from the control panel . I assume you're referring to the ;PUT sysop command (?). That command asks you for a path and a filename. What path and filename did you enter at that prompt? If you did not enter a path, then the CWD (current working directory) is where the file would be received and that's your sbbs/ctrl dir.
In any case, assuming the file was received successfully, you should be able to locate on your file system using shell commands like 'find / -name subs.txt'. Use the ;SHELL sysop command if you don't know how to ssh into your system's command prompt.

Hmm, I've tried that in the past - logging off and
waiting, while everything is idle, but no recycling.
I end up having to restart sbbs.

max's system used to have to be restarted all the time because
something was hanging and recycling wasn't working... at some point an update was done and the problem has not appeared since but that system
is not being used or modified as much as it once was...

Then something is wrong. If you touch the ctrl/recycle semfile, does it recycle then? If not, then check your log output during initialization
