I really have no idea what you're talking about. The beauty of open source is that it could never go to a completly paid type system. Red Hat used to be free, then they went paid, but Fedora is their free version now which is basically the development for future Red Hat releases. -altere

Yep. And my understanding is that what you're paying for with Red Hat is the enterprise support, not necessarily the software itself.
Also, my understanding is that Fedora is their free desktop version. There's also CentOS, which is basically a free community-supported Red Hat clone for servers.

Red Hat was one of my main distros in the early days, because I ran software that was setup on the assumption of a Red Hat environment. I did try Fedora, but found the rapid release/retirement cycle not suited to my relatively long lived systems. Fedora itself was solid. So, I switchd to CentOS until around 8-10 years ago, when more software assumed a Debian style distro (often Ubuntu). I've sence settled on Debian or Raspian for server applications and Mint with Cinnamon for desktop.

Are you talking about things like Redhat Enterprise vs CentOS? RHEL has proprie tary software that's useful for enterprise environments. CentOS just takes RHEL and strips all that out of it.

It's according to our unit of measure. If we use Carl Lewis to measure
how fast I am...you're right. On the other hand...if we used what I
call the "tripping" measurement...I would be faster. ;)
My reflexes are incredibly fast too, so even that attempt may backfire.
:) But unless you can manage 200 metres in under 27 seconds, I think I have a pretty good chance. :D
