1. When I send a message to "Areafix" with the "% List" command to
see the list of available echo areas as a result, only the "short
name" is displayed; is it possible to display both the "short
name" and the "long name"?
2. How should I set when a point eg: 2: 333 / 808.x sends me the
"% list" command, the result is only the list of a specific
message group dedicated to him instead of all the groups?
Hello All!
hi everyone, I have two questions on the part that concerns the configuration of echocfg;
1. When I send a message to "Areafix" with the "% List" command to see the list of available echo areas as a result, only the "short name" is displayed; is it possible to display both the "short name" and the "long name"?
2. How should I set when a point eg: 2: 333 / 808.x sends me the "% list" command, the result is only the list of a specific message group dedicated to him instead of all the groups?

1. When I send a message to "Areafix" with the "% List" commandi like this idea as long as the "long name" is the areas'
to see the list of available echo areas as a result, only the
"short name" is displayed; is it possible to display both the
"short name" and the "long name"?
description... possibly this could be pulled from the related NA
file instead from the system's configuration because the operator
may change the "long name" from the ""official"" description in the
NA file(s)...
2. How should I set when a point eg: 2: 333 / 808.x sends me thethis is the same for all if you have the proper setup... 1. ensure
"% list" command, the result is only the list of a specific
message group dedicated to him instead of all the groups?
that "allow nodes to add areas from area file" is set to no... 2.
make sure you have echolists defined with paths and keys (eg: F0001->fidonet_backbone.na)... 3. make sure you have the proper
echolist keys listed for each lnked node... with the above, systems
will have access to only the areas in the listed na files they are
set for... this is how you also prevent systems from one FTN
accessing the echos from other FTNs they are not members of and are
not entitled to access... this is also how you restrict
private/restricted access areas to only those systems that are
allowed to access them (eg: sysops only areas, zone only areas,
region areas, net only areas)...
