Are web gurus that can help me get https to work with Synchronet BBS. http works fine. I think it's a certificate problem but I'm not familiar with https stuff. I need someone to help me with the process of getting Synchronet BBS to work on one of MarisaG's Snychronetbbs.org servers. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If no other web server is in the mix, then it shouldn't matter that he's on one of your servers and the normal setup steps should apply.

It isn't called "Synchronet Web", nor is that a term that's in common use, so for simplicity's sake let's just not use that name.

running echickens webv4?? If the BBS runs on a Ubuntu server what is the server software considered?

webv4 is just a web UI, a series of scripts and files that are served by the Synchronet web server. It is pretty much agnostic about whether it's served over HTTPS.

You want to get your Synchronet web server set up to serve stuff over HTTPS. Said "stuff" could be my web UI or pictures of dongs or whatever you want to host.

running echickens webv4?? If the BBS runs on a Ubuntu server what is the server software considered?

If you're looking at Let's Encrypt setup instructions, the "server software" that they care about is your web server (eg. Apache, Nginx, IIS, etc.) Your web server is Synchronet, and it's highly unlikely that they provide instructions for that.

We have our own tools for use with Let's Encrypt, so you should look here:

Edit the ini file as described on that page, maybe run the script manually, and set up the timed event.

If it doesn't work, come back and let us know what you did, and what errors you encountered.

If the steps on the wiki page are confusing or insufficient, it'd be great if somebody who's completed this process successfully could fill them out some more.

This message base was corrupted on Vertrauen and the headers somehow got crossed-up on a couple of your messages. I've "fixed" the message base. I'll keep a closer eye on it to see what might have caused that corruption in the first place. The message base files you sent me look fine and I don't at this time suspect any issue with the networking stuff.

At one time, I thought there might be a cross-up bug in the QWK packet contents (HEADERS.DAT fields being associated with the wrong MESSAGES.DAT message), so I added some extra paranoia/protection there, but now I think it might've just be simple message base corruption here on another node (at that time).

For info his setup is where originally it was running a apache2 web process prt 80/443, but he wanted it switched to SBBS as the main web server. I don' know about setting that up so I can't help beyond setting the ports up :)

I do, I will have to get back to this SBBS SSL setup. Just been lazy about it as I found letsyncrypt not that straight forward. Thanks for goading me and I will update when I have more info...
