Does binkit honour the IBN flag - ie: it will only attempt a binkp session if the nodelist has a IBN flag?

I have a downstream EMSI system, and I'm currently using another SBBS with Argus infront. I'm suspecting Argus and SBBS are not working well together (I have an upstream that is refusing packets that argus is sending, that were generated by sbbsecho - this is on windows, and I think its because of the directorypath to the PKT file. I'm waiting on the upstream to give me some info from their log to determine if it is something along these lines.)

Anyway, I was thinking if I could get binkit to send to the upstream (BINKP), and Argus to send to the downstream (EMSI), using the same BSO mail out directories. So I need to stop binkit from trying to send it to the downstream, and I was wondering if I could use nodelist flags to control that. (The downstream wouldnt have an IBN, but rather an ITN flag.)

I honestly don't know. I know you can use BinkP without a nodelist at all (which is how I use it). But I'm pretty sure BinkP supports nodelists but I've never used that feature. You have the source and the wiki, so the answer should be not-too-difficult to find.

I had a quick look through the code, and it actually looks like it doesnt honour the flags - ie: it is called, it sends anything in the outbound.

I'll need to look through the code in more detail - I was hoping for an easy answer :)

If it doesnt, I might see if it can be implemented that way...

I was able to do that, sort of, for an ftp node. I set up the entry in sbbsecho.ini with the BinkpHost set to (blank) and the BinkpPoll set to
false. I believe it will still attempt to connect via binkit using the zone-net-node host lookup but, as it does not find it, binkit quickly gives up and goes on to the next node, leaving the packets alone for my ftp script
to deliver them as intended.

I have at least two nodes set up that way... one is an "othernet" hub for
me, and ones is a downlink. Never had an issue with it.

Yeah, I was thinking of doing that as a workaround as well.

But ideally, I was hoping to have more control over binkit and when it does poll (my first thought was through the nodelist flags - which is why they were created)...

two words: file boxes

if they are working properly now, set inbound and outbound file boxes for those two nodes... then point your script to those two directories for each of those nodes... it should be able to work decently without you having to futz with the ?LO and ?UT files... assuming that ?UTs are named as PKTs in the file boxes... if they are not, just rename them with your script before sending... you would also be able to do raw PKTs instead of bundles or parsing the ?LO files to find the ones for that node...
