Hi. When I run jsexec webv4-installer.js: The response is:

JSexec v3.17c-Linux (rev 1.204) - Execute Synchronet JavaScript Module
    Compiled Jun 25 2019 22:26:34 with GCC 7.4.0

It is strongly recommended that you back up your BBS before proceeding.

If this is a new intallation, you must also shut down your BBS now.

    Proceed with installation (YN)
When I reply (Yes) I get:

    Downloading https://codeload.github.com/echicken/synchronet-web-v4/zip/master

and then it just sits there. I can't ctrl-c or ctrl-z out of it.
What could be going on? The script doesn't continue and nothing is download.

It's attempting to download an archive containing all of the necessary files. Usually this works fine, but sometimes GitHub is having problems, in which case you may see an error, or you may have to wait a couple of minutes for the download to time out. (There is a 120 second timeout baked into our http.js library.) Maybe just try again once it exits, or later in the day.

Ok but to clarify this has been happening for 2 days. Also I am able to Download the file manually through Elinks. I don't know what to do with the zipped file after I unzip. I assume there are other commands in the script after the DL is complete. (I've installed ewebv4 before) without a hitch. Are there commands I can run on the master.zip to install ecwebv4?

Does the script exit after two minutes or so? If you leave it sitting there indefinitely, does it ever produce an error message?

You'd need to do all of the things that the installer does after it downloads the file, which is several steps and more than I feel like describing here and now.

If I get a chance tonight I'll test the installer and maybe write up instructions for a git-based install.

I haven't let it sit that long. I'll try it again and see what happens after two minutes and get back to you. If there's too many steps in the script don't worry about it. Sometimes these things have a way of working themselves out. :-)

Or maybe an option to pass the manually-downloaded file to the install script?
