• SBBS Instant Messaging

    Hi all,

    I'm curious to know why my BBS (Stepping Stone BBS) isn't appearing on the SBBS Instant Messaging List of BBSes when I log in on other boards. I see other boards just fine on my own system. Port 25 is open and that port as well as the other ports are forwarded in my gateway (router). Any ideas?

    Do 'the other ports' include 11/udp and 18/tcp? Maybe review the above page, especially the 'Requirements' section and see if anything differs in your setup.

    Have you tested port 11 (if that's what you have configured for ActiveUser or ActiveUser-UDP) from outside of your network to ensure it is actually working? Do you have log entries for ActiveUser-UDP?

    Port 11 and 18 are open and included in the services as enabled both tcp/udp.

    will check the webpage you listed again to see what might be going wrong with it.
    It worked for about a day after my BBS got verified with the SBBS Listing,
    fter
    that it just stopped. I log into my BBS then also connect to Vert to see if my BBS shows up on the SBBSIMSG listing; my Vert username/bbs shows up on mine,

    not on Vert. Just curious to why it doesn't show on both while I'm connected
    n
    both at the same time.

    Maybe you're in quiet mode on your BBS? You can use a finger client or a netcat/nc connection to your finger or active-user/systat service on your BBS to who's online/active:

    $ nc -u vintagebbsing.com 11

    User Action Time-on Age Sex Node ------------------------- ------------------------------- -------- --- --- ----

    Or in JSON format:

    $ echo .active-users.json | nc -u vintagebbsing.com 11
    []

    (the query/response is working, just nobody is using your BBS)
