I'm a bit old school and trying to get up the old lost gonzo BBS from
    back in the day.

My question is...I wish to just toss the SBBS up on a Static IP with the

BBS/Synchronet www site etc setup as the default for www.lost-gonzo.com

(or www.lostgonzo.com not decided yet...BBS will be default www page.

Is this something that is commonly yet done? Or are there new threats or

vulnerabilities that this is not recommend and I'd be better off for

whatever reason using a DNS service of some kind or some other method

as the front end. Have not seen much static ip setups mentioned.

Probably above is fine, and I will run the current SBBS as of Jan 1st

2019, which I assume (unlike old Worldgroup package) has some robust

patches against issues like ddos attacks etc...but it never hurts to

    check.

Been a long time since I looked at this stuff.

(setup in like 2002 or some such..taken down in 2007)

thanks ...it does not seem to be coming back to me very quick either :(

    later

    Yes, that is commonly done.

Static or dynamic IP doesn't really make much difference so long as you have a hostname for users to easily remember/type. http://wiki.synchro.net/module:dyndns
