I use bridged. Then I set the IP address within the operating system
(Windows, Linux, OS/2, etc.) Once that is set, open a command prompt and
type "ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx", (ping router.ip.address) or web browser (http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx), to see if you can reach the router.

You can also set up Virtual Box under Settings > Display > Remote Display
and use Remote Desktop Connection (vm.ip.address:port#) and control the computer as if you were at the keyboard and screen.

Just curious here you are using VB v6.02 and installing win 10 32-bit? I was under the impression 32 bit support is no longer supporting 32 bit hosts, or are you setting it up as a 32-bit guest?

Your ISP router (or your own if you have one) is handing out IP address using DHCP. Yuor bridged VM will get one of these IP addresses. If you want to set a static IP address you need to know what the IP scope is on your router. It will be something like 192.168.1.2-100 or some such.

Open control Panel and goto Network and Sharing, then Change Adapter setting and open the Properties of the NIC.

If your assigned IP is in the low numbers under 100 you are propbably OK using an IP over 100 if you cannot log into your router and see the scope. Use the same subnet mask and gateway as your assigned IP address. You can see this by opening a command prompt windows and typing IPCONFIG. DNS is ussually the IP of your router or you can use 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1.

It could be any of those. It could be the Windows firewall. You could temporarily disable it to see if you can then access it. My host machine is actually the BBS computer running Debian Linux and one of the guests is Windows
XP and one is OS/2. Just to toy around with...

    Thank you for your help

I have received a lot of help here. I am just glad I can pay it forward.

Ok, I have moved out of win 10 32 and into Virtualbox win7-32 as well and
with small test bre worked ie (bre test) how ever I haven't gone any further
so when I can get back onto it I setup more game to see how they go, but if
any problems I will probably do the same as you downgrade Virtualbox 6.02
to Virtualbox 5.22 and just stick with that version
