I ran out of beer yesterday and the store is closed for a storm day today, so I
got to thinking ... I wonder if the Synchronet Dev Team would consider bundling
dosemu along with the u*nix source tree in order to minimize the prerequisite requirements and if so, perhaps include a few of the common 16 bit DOS Doors in
xtrn :-P

apt-get install dosemu, why must be incluide with sbbs code???!? =)

my thoughts as well...
unfortulately, i seem to have a problem here where when dosemu is fired up, it creates a new .dosemu in the sbbs/ctrl directory instead of using the one in ~/.dosemu... the only escape is to terminate the connection so sbbs will recycle the node... i don't know what the problem is, yet, and haven't had time
to try to dig into it :? this is on ubuntu server 18.04...
Not every Linux Distro uses apt-get (eg: I use Slackware which is not a Deb* based system ... with that logic why is libmozjs included when one could just sudo apt-get install libmozjs185-dev :-P

That statement is assuming one is using a Debian based system. I am inclined to not use slapt-get on my system as it wreaks havoc on the file system and typically breaks everything

I am having similar issues, and like you, I haven't had the time to
delve into the causes

Agreed. I'm a Slacker too and do things the old fashioned way, or use SBo. I do agree though, that dosemu does not need to be included in SBBS.

I used to use Sbo, until it, too, hosed my system. I know DM
thinks I bother him a lot, which is true, but Pat would say he is
getting off easy :-P

Haha! Probably right!
I've used SBo stuff a LOT, and haven't had any trouble. I just replied
to you in IRC recommending SBo for installing Dosemu. It is easy with
SBo and works perfectly here.
Good luck!

I have had dosemu installed for sometime, I installed dosemu-20130804_35054ba-x86_64-2_slonly.txz, and it works,
however, I cannot find my /sbbs directory on the linux/fs
anywhere :-/ so, I folled the link you sent on irc, removedpkg dosemu-20130804_35054ba-x86_64-2_slonly.txz and added the two
packages from there, ./dosemu won't run because it is elf32 and I
use elf64, so I downloaded and built the sources to no avail ...
so bleh, reinstalled sloney and dosemu works but no /sbbs ... no
wonder I gave up on dos doors years ago LOL
maybe I will sudo apt-get dosemu && dosemu-freedos on my
raspberrypi and see if I get any further

I think I read somewhere that dosemu won't run at all on a Pi, not
available for ARM processors I think...
