• DSZ Port For A Door

From Daryl Stout@VERT to All on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 23:37:39
I have a door that requires a DSZPORT=# value...but I'm not sure how to implement it on the BBS...even if it's SET DSZPORT=1 as the value.

I had tried to just set up a batchfile for it, with and without a fossil driver, but the file transfer doesn't work.

The door is an item to allow callers to download RIP Graphics programs or icon packages. It was originally done for GT Power BBS Software (what I ran for 13 years), but I haven't been able to get the file transfer feature in the door to work under Synchronet...with or without the fossil driver.

I know that TeleGraphix, who pioneered RIP Graphics, went out of business nearly 20 years ago now...and as one former local Sysop noted "RIP is what you do to a f@r+". <G>

I have a door that requires a DSZPORT=# value...but I'm not sure how to implement it on the BBS...even if it's SET DSZPORT=1 as the value.

    '1' should work fine.

I had tried to just set up a batchfile for it, with and without a fossil driver, but the file transfer doesn't work.

What does that mean: "with and without a fossil driver"?

Synchronet for Windows has its own Virtual UART/FOSSIL driver (sbbsexec.dll) and there's really no way to run an external DOS program without it: http://wiki.synchro.net/config:sbbsexec.ini

The door is an item to allow callers to download RIP Graphics programs or icon packages. It was originally done for GT Power BBS Software (what I ran for 13 years), but I haven't been able to get the file transfer feature in the door to work under Synchronet...with or without the fossil driver.

So the door works, but the file transfer doesn't? Do you know if it's trying to spawn and external protocol driver (e.g. DSZ) or what?

    Rob,

I have a door that requires a DSZPORT=# value...but I'm not sure how to implement it on the BBS...even if it's SET DSZPORT=1 as the value.

    '1' should work fine.

Well, I put it in the batchfile for the door, and the DSZ program
(actually renamed FDSZ to DSZ) in the door directory...and it still
    won't work.

I had tried to just set up a batchfile for it, with and without a fossi driver, but the file transfer doesn't work.

What does that mean: "with and without a fossil driver"?

The door will run with or without a fossil driver, but I prefer to use
the /fd command (fossil driver). Then, I let Synchronet's fossil driver
    take care of it.

So the door works, but the file transfer doesn't? Do you know if it's trying DM>spawn and external protocol driver (e.g. DSZ) or what?

That I'm not sure of. I have placed similar batchfiles in it for other
doors that have a file transfer option, but it still doesn't work. I'll
do some more testing on it.
