• Case sensitive .*LO files w/ binkit?

From poindexter FORTRAN@VERT/REALITY to All on Monday, January 14, 2019 17:21:43
I just fixed an issue I had with Allfix 5.23 and have it working with Binkit. I noticed the following errors in my log:

1/14 05:13:16p BINKPOLL Unexpected file path '../binkit/outbox\00DA006D.FLO' expected '../binkit/outbox\00da006d.FLO' (skipped)

It looks like all of the .*lo files created by Binkit are lowercase, whilst Allfix is creating files with uppercase names (the file above was for a file echo transfer)

Is this a bug? Not sure if I could force Allfix to lower case...

Is Allfix a Windows application? If so, yes, it's a bug in Allfix. According to http://ftsc.org/docs/frl-1034.001:

Name of flow file is formed from network and node number of remote
system, expressed as 4 hexadecimal digits each, zero-padded on the
left. Thus information concerning to node 104/36 is stored in flow
and control files with name "00680024" with different extension.
Hexadecimal digits must be lower case if it is supported by OS file
    system.

Looks like I'll be moving to Tickit as soon as the dust settles from my Binkit migration. :)

I was planning on moving to either HTICK or Tickit anyway, doing so would get rid of the last Windows dependency I have and let me move the BBS to a linux box.

Ah, cool. Is Allfix still maintained? It'd be nice to notify them of the bug.

It looks like Ken Johnson picked it up after Bob Seaborn passed away. There's some activity on www.allfix.com, and I guess the ideal place to report it would bein the fidonet echo ALLFIX_HELP.

allfix started on DOS... it has no LFN support in the <v6.xx releases no matter

    * "universal" as in there was only one binary but it contained multiple internal binaries so that it would run natively on all supported OSes... DOS and OS/2 were the ones i know about... i'm personally not aware of a native winwhatever version or universal that supported it but that doesn't mean there wasn't such...

Unfortunately, at least one other person experienced random hangs with AF 6.x, and the only solution was to go back to AF 5.x.

True, once I move my current list over, there shouldn't be a lot of changes. It'll be nice to have everything running under Synchronet.
