• Apologies to MRO (Sincerely)

I really must apologize to MRO. I made a tremendous mistake in recent reactions to his replies.

    MRO:

I humbly apologize to you for the way I responded to your replies.

Your initial response seemed to me to be more trolling than legitimately critical, but on a re-reading, I realize I was certainly in the wrong in the way I responded. I've been lurking in DOVE-net for years, and my perception of you--rightly or wrongly formed based on your posting history--clouded my interpretation of your reply's intent. I mistook your criticism as being purposefully misleading, just to get a rise. The truth is, my convoluted writing in the post to which you were replying easily could have been interpreted the way you did.

In fact, replies from others seem to prove I was none too clear in my original post.

I absolutely should not have shot back the way I did. It was mean-spirited, and even would have been going too far if you had actually been trolling me (which you weren't). I not only made a fool of myself for acting the way I did, but also and perhaps more deplorably, for evaluating your intentions based on prejudiced assumptions I had formed.

For all of this, I am truly sorry.

And for what it's worth, if somebody actually had been suggesting that Synchronet should play a connection sound by default, I would have been right there with you in not liking the idea.

I also extend apologies to the community in general. DOVE-net doesn't need what I just gave it.

A previous post suggests MRO may have blocked my posts on his system. If someone could mention to him that I have made a public apology, I would appreciate it. While he doesn't need to accept it, he definitely deserves to see it, if even just to have the option to reject it. Thank you.

    Take care,
    -J
