It works, you just have to compile it. I'm not sure there are any instructions, as the wiki suggests you use mgetty over SEXPOTS on Linux.

    (I use SEXPOTS)

I figured out how to get sexpots to connect to my modem (in linux), NOW I have to figure out how to use the VOIP I have. It's a grandstream ht702 2-port VOIP adapter. I got it of E Bay, with NO instructions. I did download the PDF file, but it's not much help with modem conectivity. Think I'll ask along the echoes and FB to see if anybody ever used one with a BBS. seems like a pretty cool device to use for BBS'ing...

The problem I always ran into with my phone line is that I can't really test it. I don't have a second phone line to dial in with, and I don't know anyone who has a modem that I can pester.

My dial-up line is a VOIP line from my cable company/internet provider, so I don't have any special equipment other than the phone modem the cable company provided to me. It works well enough, and I'm able to get at least 33.6K out of it.

I'm gonna run into that same problem. I DO have 2 modems, and I'm trying to set up 2 dial-up lines. my VOIP has 2 ports...

Nice speeds! I've heard most getting 9600 without errors, but anything highter there's errors. I don't have VOIP with my provider, I'm gonna find a VOIP provider to sign up for though. Not sure how to even do that

The VoIP adapter (ATA) should look like a phone line to the modem.

I use MagicJack for Voice Mail, and MagicJack Plus for a fax line,
although the US Robotics 56K Fax Modem is disconnected at the moment.

I figured out SEXPOTS, it starts and everything, now I have to figure out how to get my Grandstream VOIP working. Which I have NO knowledge about. I've been reading online about it. I did get a message from Nick Andre about it. he used to use one with his BBS. Trying to use SEXPOTS with Synchronet and with Mystic (I have 2 modems) my VOIP has 2 ports....

You will need to subscribe to a provider and then configure the ATA to log in, using the details supplied by the provider. As for the modem, it simple connects to the ATA using a standard RJ-11 cable. The ATA looks just like a POTS line to the modem.

Someone (Wish I could remember who that was) was/is using their google voice number with their BBS, which is GREAT! Since that's totally free. I have to figure out how to access the Web setup, without the use of a VOIP/POTS phone. Hopefully that's possible

You still have to setup your ATA, I'd imagine. Surely someone has an old POTS phone they're throwing out?
