• Determining BBS Address

From Minex@VERT/TDOD to All on Thursday, October 11, 2018 09:11:19
How does one go about finding out what the "address" is of another BBS user. For example, sending a message to me would be "minex@tdod". Where is that listed? I want to send Terry at Colorado Springs Central Net a private message from my BBS but I can't find where his address is listed.

If you're talking about QWK addressing, you can look at the @VIA kludge lines in echomail messages. Another method that works is log onto that BBS and download a QWK packet, because the filename of the packet (minus the .QWK) is the QWK address of the BBS. Someone also did say if you're looking at their post in a QWK echo, there is a key combination to "reply via netmail", which will automatically sort out the addressing for you.

Every user on every QWK-networked BBS? No such list that I'm aware of, though the Synchronet 'qwknodes' utility can be used to generate a list (from messages posted on your QWK-networked sub-boards).

I want to send Terry at Colorado Springs Central Net a private
message from my BBS but I can't find where his address is listed.

Best to find a message he posted in a QWK-networked sub-board (conference) and then use the 'mail reply' command. The BBS will fill out his address for you automatically.

Or just use the default menu and go I, I. It'll tell you the QWK ID right there.
