    Hello Digital Man,

When I send a netmail I see a JavaScript error. It's not fatal, my netmail still goes where it needs to go but a bit of JavaScript stumbling maybe.

    Wed Aug 01 2018 02:53 pm trmb.synchro.net
term Node 1 Al !JavaScript /sbbs/exec/email_sec.js line 65: TypeError: addr_li st.indexOf is not a function

Also when I attach a file to a netmail (by answering yes to the attach file question) and upload it and it all looks like it has been uploaded fine but the attached file doesn't get placed in the data/fido/0001 (just an example, I have forgotten the directory now) so the netmail doesn't get sent. Once I place the attached file in that directory and run my FIDOOUT event the netmail and file do go as expected to it's destination.

... Okay - right after this one we're BACK on TOPIC

In my case I am trying to attach a file to an FTN netmail. I just entered a new message addressed to a point here. When I was entering the message I answered yes to the attach a file question. After I saved my message I uploaded the file to attach, successfully as far as I could see. This is the log while I was online to the BBS..

Is it possible something deleted the file before SBBSecho ran? Could you check your 0001.out directory right after the upload and see if file is stored there?

As the error says there were no files or directories in /sbbs/data/file so I created the 0001.out directory and placed the file, gamenet.zip in there and touched data/fidoout.now..

So you didn't have a data/file/0001.out directory either? That is very odd. Before you even select a protocol to upload the file, the directory should've been created - can you check? And then something else must be deleting that directory (and the file within it).

What I meant to say here (but hit Ctrl-Z to undo and it saved, duh) - was: I tested FTN netmail with an attachment myself and it worked as it should. From my sbbsecho.log:

I think so, but I don't know why. I had a look in the data/file directory and the 0001.out directory was still there from earlier today. I tried to send another message with a file attachment and I looked for the 0001.out directory while still in the editor but it was gone at that point. I don't know why..

Can you upload a unique filename and then search your file system for that filename once the upload has finished?

Yep, I just sent a netmail with a file attached..

So the log output isn't really helping at this point. Perhaps stop SBBSecho from running and see if that's what is deleting the file attachment?

I have disabled the fidoin and fidoout events and entered a new netmail with a file attach and the 0001.out directory was created in data/file and the file placed in there, but there doesn't seem to be a *.msg in the /sbbs/netmail directory.. ??

That's expected. As of April of this year (http://cvs.synchro.net/commitlog.ssjs#36617), sbbs writes all outbound netmail to the "mail" base (data/mail.*) and requires SBBSecho to do the export to .msg and subsequent packetizing (if needed).

If the file is there when SBBSecho isn't running, then it must be SBBSecho that's deleting the attachment and it's only supposed to do that after it succesfully exports the netmail message (to .msg). It's a good clue anyway and I'll do some more research and experiments here.

So I see now: SBBSecho here couldn't delete file attachments because of a permissions issue, so I didn't see this problem - SBBSecho shouldn't be deleting the file attachments at all. So that's now fixed. Sorry about that,

Ah, good. Thanks for the bug report. I guess no one's been sending FTN netmails with file attachments (but me) for a while.
