• Binkit/Binkd - multi aka

From Dumas Walker@VERT/CAPCITY2 to ALL on Thursday, July 19, 2018 07:10:00
When binkit makes an outbound "call" to a system running binkd, is there a
way to set binkit up (or both) so that multiple calls do not have to be
made to a system with which you exchange mail for multiple networks?

Example, I am exchanging mail with a binkd system. We exchange mail for
nets 123 and 456, which are in different domains (like, @networka &
@networkb). Right now, I can get them exchanging mail if I set both
systems up on each end with separate entries for both networks, but binkit makes two call attempts, moving mail for each network separately as if I
was calling two distinct systems instead of one system twice.

That does work, but I half-way thought part of the reason that the two
nodes share all of their AKAs during a connection was so that they would recognize that mail from additional networks could also be exchanged during
    the same connection.

I am guessing that it can and that I have something set up wrong. :)

    Thanks!

I've pinged Deuce for an answer as I don't know off-hand.

Deuce's reply to me on irc.synchro.net:

<Deuce> So you mean when it's polling?
<Deuce> Anyway, I think it does do that.
<Deuce> But it would only do that if the passwords were the same.

So if you're using the same session password for all the AKAs/links on the same host, then yeah, I guess it should do that.

OK, I shall keep an eye on it, but it does not appear to be doing so. It appears to make separate polls for each aka. No biggie.

Set BinkP Settings->Poll to "No" (in EchoCfg->Linked Nodes) for all but one of the AKAs shared by the linked node. Then it should only poll that one AKA.

Think it's working for me, my Fido uplink is also my MicroNet uplink. From what I can tell it pulls in waiting packets from both networks.

(when it works, having some OTHER issues polling at the moment)
