• AVATAR terminal support in Synchronet

From Nightfox@VERT/DIGDIST to Digital Man on Thursday, July 12, 2018 09:19:46
Hi DM - I was just curious if AVATAR terminal support is supported in Synchronet (and possibly SyncTerm). In the 90s, I had heard of AVATAR as an alternative to ANSI that was able to draw faster (due to shorter control codes). I know of at least one terminal program that supported AVATAR (Telemate, I believe), and I noticed menus drew a bit faster with AVATAR vs. ANSI. But these days, the speed advantage probably wouldn't make much difference with people connecting via telnet on broadband internet..

Nope. I've reviewed AVATAR every once in a while (I think there's 2 versions?) - anyway, no motivation to use/support it for me.

Now there's a memory, I had forgotten about AVATAR, but it did work well. Yeah, think other things are going to slow me down more, it's a low latency 100Mbps acroaa the LAN to the BBS for me now. :)
