1994, according to the Internet. That was in Portland, though. A dealer was opened in Oklahoma sometime in the 90's (a little later than that), if memory serves.

The original Kia dealership in this area is no longer in business, so I can't look at their established date. I don't even remember the name of the dealership that was operating back then, tbh. Other dealers now operate with Kia cars in the area.

23 years counts as decades in my book. Agreeably, just barely.

Portland, Maine or Portland, Oregon? I live near Portland, Oregon.. Maybe I just don't remember seeing them when they first came onto the market.

Portland, Oregon. That's direct from the KIA FAQ. February 1994 is the given date that sales were initiated.

I called my dad and asked him what year his KIA was. It was a 1994 KIA, bought in 1995 as a program car. So... We had a KIA dealership in Oklahoma during that year as well. The dealership he bought his from still exists, but under a different name. That explains why it didn't come up on my Google search initially. I saw someone complaining about transmission issues on their Facebook page, and it was a recent post. I also had a neighbor that owned a KIA, and she had zero issues with her car. I'm not sure whether I'd buy one or not.

You couldn't pay me to buy another Ford. Had two Ford Rangers, brand new, both were pieces of junk. One I practically had to get a lawsuit going to get the dealer to do anything to fix a transmission problem and the rust bucket only had 30k on it.

Now my 1997 Dodge 2500 heavy duty - still running strong and can take on any shiny, fancy track on the road today.

There are many reasons someone might want to sell something.. For a Ford, maybe the vehicle just wasn't a good fit for someone, maybe they lost their job and they can't make the payments anymore, maybe they just want something different, etc.. Just because someone is selling something, that doesn't mean there's something wrong with it.
