    When I post a message say in fsxnet Gen and once I posted it, then
    fidoout runs then binkout runs afterwards which is all good but I get
    this message.

    3/17 09:59:38a Attempting callout for file >d:\bbs\sbbs\binkd\outbound.015\00010064.clo
    3/17 09:59:38a JSBinkP/1.91 callout to 21:1/100 started
    3/17 09:59:38a Connection to f100.n1.z21.binkp.net:24554 failed.
    3/17 09:59:38a Timed event: BINKOUT returned 0

    now my question is now do I get it to poll the nornal address
    agency.bbs nz

    as once it has polled f100.nl.21.binkp.net binkit won't send it

    again question how do I fix this or what command or setting.

    also is there a option in sbbsecho.cfg or same were for filebox
    to put stuff in and send, I noticed there was one for inbound
    but not sure if that is for both.

    Thank you

    SBBSecho v3 supports file boxes, but BinkIT does not (yet).

    You will need to change that at some point.. :)

    Also sneaky should probably remove "AllowPlainPassword", unless they are using plain passwords.

    It seems to me that only plain passwords are working with mystic at the moment on incoming calls handled by the binkp service. Outbound polls work well.

    Is that what you see as well?

    I'm going to have a fresh look at the logs and see.

    Hi Digital man

    Is that what you have in your binkit.ini yet it's still trying to connect to f100.n1.z21.binkp.net?

    my binkit.ini

    [21:1/100]
    Host=agency.bbs.nz
    Port=24556
    Password=Pass
    Poll=true
    AllowPlainPassword=true
    AllowUnencrypted=true

    this is it.

    this f100.nl.z21.binkp.net doesn't do it all the time but most of the time
    ie run binkpoll and it tries f100.n1.z21 fails then on the same binkpoll 21:1/100 agency.bbs.nz does connect about a 1 minite later and picks up
    my pkts which it probably ok, BUT it does it on outbound runs fidout/binkout it uses the f100.n1.z21 so hence mail goes out do a binkpoll same as row 2 haven't a question just passing on what it does.

    I can confirm this, I see it too on inbound connections when using CRAM-MD5 passwords but I have good sessions on outbound (binkout or binkpoll). Hopefully this will be sorted in time.

    I'm not sure why your having problems trying to connect to *.binkp.net. I have a minimal ftn_domains.ini but put all my links in binkit.ini and that works well here.

    The lookup on binkp.net is a good thing if you are trying to send mail or files to a node not in your binkit.ini or nodelist. It will work if the node you are sending too is known at binkp.net. It won't work for Z21 though.

    This is my ftn_domains.ini but I don't think it is needed if the node you are sending to is in your binkit.ini. I'm not sure this will be usefull to you.. so take it as informational only.. :)

    I'd like to know how to create a similar service for Z21 or another zone. I haven't seen much documentation on the subject.

    I just did a whois lookup for binkp.net. No names came up but the DNS servers looked like it was run by the binkd development team. Might be worth asking them if support for othernets would be a go or not.

    If it is a go no changes would need to be made for existing mailers to support those kind of lookups.

    I'd like to know how to create a similar service for Z21 or another zone. I haven't seen much documentation on the subject.

    Maybe we need an fsx.net domain? I suppose any domain would do.

    Have a look at http://binkp.net. I tried to setup 1:153/757 but my node

    Will take a look, hopefully they have some technical info in there

    is not in their nodelist. Looking there you can probably see what you
    need to do.

    How long has your node been around? I'm sure mine is.

    I'd like to setup a bbs.vkradio.com subdomain for this purpose too. Good place to learn, since that's my own net. :)

    I just did a whois lookup for binkp.net. No names came up but the DNS servers looked like it was run by the binkd development team. Might be worth asking them if support for othernets would be a go or not.

    I'm happy to have my own domain for my net.

    If it is a go no changes would need to be made for existing mailers to support those kind of lookups.

    For binkd, nothing other than adding the DNS lookup domain to the domain line for the othernet(s) in binkd.conf. For other mailers, no idea. :).

    there's really not any... the idea is fairly simple, though... scan the nodelist looking for IPs or domain names... use those for the matching fnz'ed FTN address... the most simple one would be a local hosts file... so a script not unlike binkd_nodelister.pl would be a start... only the output need be changed since that one is currently outputting the binkd Node format... one just needs the output to be in whatever format their DNS server wants... most likely CNAME would be used in a majority of entries since we're pulling domain names and having them used by other domain names... the few IP addresses would be specified directly instead of CNAME... all of this information is taken from
    the nodelist...

    Shouldn't be too hard to turn it into zone files for something like BIND either. Might have to look at knoching up a script and setting up a subdomain to try it with VKRadio. Obviously, I have the nodelist, that's certainly not a problem! :)

    Does anyone have scripts or software for parsing the nodelist into a simple list of nodes? Don't want to reinvent the wheel, if I can avoid it. :)

    Hmm, not sure what I can do with that, haven't done much with Perl :( But somehow I missed that last time around. lol

    copy it to vkradio_nodelister.pl and then fix up the output so it is a zone file... i've done it once for updating the domains my perimeter firewall allows gated email for... it was a simple list... a zone file shouldn't be that hard to do if i recall their format from yonks ago correctly...

    Yeah the hardest part will be determining if the address is an IP address or domain name. Also, are there SRV records, so systems with non standard ports can be accommodated?

    the latest/best binkd_nodelister.pl should be in the I-BINKD FDN along with the weekly binkd.txt binkd nodelist file... the script is version

    I'll have a look at it anyway, might use it as is for local use too, at least on those nets I don't get to use DNS. And does the FDN reach this far? I'm not on a lot of file echoes in any case, haven't got around to sorting Tickit out yet.

    FWIW: folks using this script to create othernet binkd nodelist files
    will have to edit it to replace the forced "@fidonet" domain with the othernet's domain and don't forget to use different output file names
    for each othernet...

    That makes sense. The domain should have been a command line parameter. That way, domain and filename could be the same. Easy to know which nodelist file is which that way! :)
