    Hi all

    flowing i now there is binkpoll in time event and in service confing

    that for setting it up

    You can now run "jsexec binkit install", but it seems you're already past that point.

    I tryed a binkpoll and got a coyuple of packet with is cool
    this in my control window ie

    3/10 09:43:22a BBS Events thread started
    3/10 09:43:47a Semaphore signaled for Timed Event: BINKPOLL
    3/10 09:43:47a Running timed event: BINKPOLL
    3/10 09:43:47a Running outbound
    3/10 09:43:47a Attempting callout for file d:\bbs\sbbs\binkd\outbound\014a0001.dlo
    3/10 09:43:47a Callout to 3:330/1@fidonet started.
    3/10 09:44:02a Connection to f1.n330.z3.binkp.net:24554 failed.

    This means that node 3:330/1 is not DNS-resolveable. You'll need to add a "Host=" key for that node in your ctrl/binkit.ini file.

    3/10 09:44:02a Attempting callout for file d:\bbs\sbbs\binkd\outbound.2cf\02260001.clo
    3/10 09:44:17a Attempting poll for node 1:15/0@fidonet
    3/10 09:44:17a Callout to 1:15/0@fidonet started.
    3/10 09:44:17a Connection to f0.n15.z1.binkp.net:24554 failed.

    Same thing. Enter a hostname for this node in your binkit.ini.

    3/10 09:44:17a Attempting poll for node 3:770/1@fidonet
    3/10 09:44:17a Callout to 3:770/1@fidonet started.
    3/10 09:44:25a Will encrypt session.
    3/10 09:44:25a Initializing crypt keys.
    3/10 09:44:25a Remote disconnected
    3/10 09:44:25a Timed event: BINKPOLL returned 0

    That seems to have worked. If you enable debug log level, you'll get more details, but I see no obvious problem with this session.

    I did try 1:340/400 but said bad password but I have been useing it for years any suggestions

    More details will be needed from you. Like debug log output, the revision of exec/binkit.js and load/binkp.js that you're using, and the mailer you're communicating with.

    so I just like to now the steps js to download updated ones and any cfg/ini to edit

    Hi Digital Man

    Yes I did that I think or sbbsexe.zip but cannot remember puting binkit.ini
    in ctrl so I must of ran that command.

    yep got it I think ie

    [1:15/0]

    Password=pass
    Poll=yes
    OutboundRoot=d:/sbbs/binkd/outbound

    [1:340/400]
    Host=time.synchro.net
    Password=pass
    Poll=yes
    OutboundRoot=d:/sbbs/binkd/outbound

    although I am having trouble wit othernets shoud I be doing this

    might have the outbound qwrong though

    Example ftn_domains.ini

    [fidonet]
    Zones=1,2,3,4,5,6
    OutboundRoot=/sbbs/fido/outbound/
    NodeList=/sbbs/fido/nodelist/nodelist.123

    [othernet]
    Zones=10
    NodeList=/sbbs/fido/OTHERNET.234

    if so does it go in ctrl ??

    3/10 09:44:17a Callout to 1:15/0@fidonet started.

    That seems to have worked. If you enable debug log level, you'll get more details, but I see no obvious problem with this session.

    there is 2 that work time.synchro.net and 3:770/1
    and you are going to tell me off here but how do I enabble debug level
    so I can sent it to you thanks

    I did try 1:340/400 but said bad password but I have been useing it

    I changed the password first letter upperclass rest lower case and worked

    More details will be needed from you. Like debug log output, the revision of exec/binkit.js and load/binkp.js

    How does this look

    fidonet]
    Zones=1,2,3,4,5,6
    OutboundRoot=D:\bbs\sbbs\binkd\outbound\ NodeList=d:\bbs\sbbs\fido\nodelist\nodelist.068

    [fsxnet]
    Zones=21

    [sportsnet]
    Zones=24
    NodeList=d:\bbs\sbbs\fido\sportnet.068

    I don't use a ftn_domains.ini (not use nodelists or FTN domains), so I'm guessing its fine. <shrug>

    If you use the stand outbound directory structure and don't need nodelists, then you don't really need an ftn_domains.ini file.

    SBBSecho is a tosser (echomail program). I was asking about the mailer (e.g. >IRex, BinkD, D'bridge, etc.) that you're having troubles communicating with >(over BinkP).

    oh okay sorry it's Binkd 1.1a-92 binkd but not at the same time as binkit thougth

    I was asking about mailer you're communicating with (the remote link), not *your* mailer. Anyway, I see it below in the "VER" and "Peer version" log lines: BinkD.

    My error lists

    I didn't find any errors in the log output. When you say "error lists", what errors are you referring to?

    Looks like your calling 21:1/100 and expecting his mystic mailer but getting binkd?

    If so you need to add the port to the [21:1/100] section of your binkit.ini. Something like..

    [21:1/100]
    Host=agency.bbs.nz
    Port=24560
    Password=SECRET
    Poll=true

    I'm not sure what port his mystic mailer answers on but it's non standard.

    I'd be interested in hearing about how this progresses. When polling a mystic mailer with the binkout or binkpoll events I find it works well. When the service answers we get an insecure session because we can't seem to deal with the CRAM-MD5 response we get from mystic. Working on that.. :)

    Hi Al

    3/12 01:06:50p JSBinkP/1.78 callout to 21:1/100@fsxnet started
    +1300 3/12 01:06:50p Got M_NUL command args: VER binkd/1.1a-89/Win32

    Looks like your calling 21:1/100 and expecting his mystic mailer but getting binkd?

    If so you need to add the port to the [21:1/100] section of your binkit.ini. Something like..

    [21:1/100]
    Host=agency.bbs.nz
    Port=24560
    Password=SECRET
    Poll=true

    Thank you for your reply and the interest in this subject, not the
    best with this but not much joy with the above, with tye right port
    but tried this

    [21:1/100]
    Host=ipv4.agency.bbs.nz
    Port=24556
    Password=SECRET
    Poll=true

    and got my packets and yes non-secure session and the pkt were
    move to inbound as *.bad, don't now it it makes any different but
    my pkts don't have a password in the pkt, so I run a batch file
    to rename .bad to pkt move them to secfile dir and run sbbsecho
    to process them, not the best way for it , but works for me
    untill I can workout or find out how to do it the right way
    but that more than I got before.

    I'm not sure what port his mystic mailer answers on but it's non
    standard.

    fsxnet port 24456 but I don't now if that non standard or orther

    I'd be interested in hearing about how this progresses. When polling a mystic mailer with the binkout or binkpoll events I find it works well.

    ok i haven't done the binkout yet, have to find out how that work or
    setup to do that, if I put pkt in outbound in binkit.ini or in
    it dir that sbbsecho puts the pkt in outbound.001, it won't send
    unless you can help me with that thank you

    When the service answers we get an insecure session because we can't
    seem to deal with the CRAM-MD5 response we get from mystic. Working on that.. :)

    ok, not sur that I can help with CRAM-MD5 response, what is it not doing
    that it should be doing, then I can see whats mine is doing.

    Thank You

    Hi digital man

    Thank you for the help with this and sorry for not explain myself properly
    with questions or what I was tring to tell you, in my mind new what I want but you cannot read my mind sorry

    [sportsnet]

    I don't use a ftn_domains.ini (not use nodelists or FTN domains), so I'm >guessing its fine. <shrug>

    If you use the stand outbound directory structure and don't need nodelists, >then you don't really need an ftn_domains.ini file.

    I think I now what you mean binkit.ini is just outbound
    ftn_domains.ini outbound is outbound.001 015 etc.
    but probable wrong with that as well

    with same changes to fsxnet host for it to connect I will run binkit for day or so,
    seems to be connection to all host so see how it goes for this week

    but a question here binkit.ini in path d:\bbs\sbbs\binkp\outbound
    question :is there any thing in sbbsecho.ini I have to do ie mailer type is binkley\flow
    and all dirs are right in sbbsecho.ini, as I cannot sent anything

    question: do I have to run binkout first then binkpoll or does binkpoll do both.

    I was asking about mailer you're communicating with (the remote link), not >*your* mailer. Anyway, I see it below in the "VER" and "Peer version" log
    lines: BinkD.

    Okay yes I connect to mystic/binkd but you probably now the ver now.

    My error lists

    I didn't find any errors in the log output. When you say "error lists", what >errors are you referring to?
    I'm not sure what you're trying to tell me again. Please clarify.
    I saw nothing else in the log output you pasted which resembled an error or a >question.

    again sorry, to me is was errors but you was different probably didn't see any so really what I should have asked what there any thing in those logs to say that every thing working and connection okay or if samething wrong what I should do
    to fix it, but apart from binkout not working for me I think other things
    going fine.

    I'm not sure what you're trying to tell me. A .M05 files is bundle, not a >packet. Are you saying the packets within this bundle were *from* 3:770/1? If >so, is that a problem?

    again sorry about this question, I have sorted this one out thanks

    The outbound.<hexnum> is a standard, called Binkley-Style-Outbound (or BSO). Both BinkIT and SBBSecho will use the correct outbound directory for all zones without needing an ftn_domains.ini file.

    The outbound directory in sbbsecho.ini must match what you have set in binkit.ini ("binkit install" does this automatically).

    question: do I have to run binkout first then binkpoll or does binkpoll do both.

    binkout runs only automatically when you have outbound echomail or netmail. binkout will perform an outbound run and poll.

    binkpoll just runes periodicalliy just in case there was no new outbound mail or an incoming connections from the uplink (hub). They should be setup with timed events and run automatically when/as needed.

    I was asking about mailer you're communicating with (the remote link), not >*your* mailer. Anyway, I see it below in the "VER" and "Peer version" log

    I think I now what you mean binkit.ini is just outbound
    ftn_domains.ini outbound is outbound.001 015 etc.

    The outbound.<hexnum> is a standard, called Binkley-Style-Outbound (or BSO).

    Looks fine to me.

    question :is there any thing in sbbsecho.ini I have to do ie mailer type is >> binkley\flow

    The outbound directory in sbbsecho.ini must match what you have set in >binkit.ini ("binkit install" does this automatically).

    okay in sbbsecho.ini outbound is d:\bbs\sbbs\binkd\outbound\
    in binkit.in outbound is OutboundRoot=d:\bbs\sbbs\binkd\outbound\

    question will I have to remove binkit and do a reinstall.

    No.

    question: do I have to run binkout first then binkpoll or does binkpoll do both.
    binkout runs only automatically when you have outbound echomail or netmail. >>binkout will perform an outbound run and poll.

    it may run binkout automatically when you have outbound echomail but
    my question is why won't it send the pkt out

    What packet? You have to be more specific. The BINKOUT will normally send files (packets and bundles) for any linked nodes.

    binkpoll just runes periodicalliy just in case there was no new outbound mail >>or an incoming connections from the uplink (hub). They should be setup with >>timed events and run automatically when/as needed.

    in time events for both set at 24 hours

    I'm not sure what that means. The default is for BINKOUT to run once a day (at 00:00) unless signaled by a semaphore (which SBBSecho will create/touch anytime there is new outbound mail). The default is also for BINKPOLL to run once an hours (24 times a day).

    See http://wiki.synchro.net/module:binkit for details.

    Okay, so you "binkout not working". Can you elaborate?

    what I am saying here is when I run binkout it goes through the processes to connecting to

    The traffic encryption option supported in BinkD v0.9.5 and later.

    I'd point you to an FTSC document about it, but I don't see to be able to find one.

    Hi Digital

    The outbound.<hexnum> is a standard, called Binkley-Style-Outbound (or BSO).

    okay so is my setting in sbbsecho.ini binkley\flo right then.

    Looks fine to me.

    Great thanks

    question will I have to remove binkit and do a reinstall.

    No.

    Cool.

    question: do I have to run binkout first then binkpoll or does binkpoll do
    both.
    binkout runs only automatically when you have outbound echomail or netmail. >>binkout will perform an outbound run and poll.

    it may run binkout automatically when you have outbound echomail but
    my question is why won't it send the pkt out

    What packet? You have to be more specific. The BINKOUT will normally
    send files (packets and bundles) for any linked nodes.

    That's cool, I have sorted that thank you.

    I'm not sure what that means. The default is for BINKOUT to run once a
    day (at 00:00) unless signaled by a semaphore (which SBBSecho will create/touch anytime there is new outbound mail). The default is also
    for BINKPOLL to run once an hours (24 times a day).

    Okay I understand now, have put back to default and I see what you
    mean per automatically, it a bit like fidoout, after posting a message
    fidoout will run, then binkout runs automatically after fidoout thanks

    just a question when posting in echo it from Ian Segers normally Sneaky
    is there a setting for this samewere.

    See http://wiki.synchro.net/module:binkit for details.

    yes been there quite a few times I trying to understand to what its say

    I'm not really sure what you're asking. binkp.net is a domain name that provides resolutions for FidoNet addresses, but not all of them, to IP addresses. Try "ping f705.n103.z1.binkp.net" (That's my FidoNet address, 1:103/705, converted to binkp.net hostname). If you can resolve it to an IP address, then you don't need a "Host" entry in the binkit.ini file.

    I'm new to this party, can you just explain to this n00b what encryption is being used/tested/developed? Just curious and wondering if Mystic will play nice with it and/or if it's something I can pass on to James as a FYI and consideration for future inclusion in to the BinkP server that ships with Mystic?

    There may not be an FTSC document for it but I found crypt.c and crypt.h in the root directory of binkd104.tgz. crypt.c begins with..

    * crypt.c -- crypt binkp traffic
    *
    * crypt.c is a part of binkd project

    Binkit does play nice with mailers that don't support encryption with "AllowUnencypted=true" in binkit.ini but it might be a good thing to support or at least consider.. :)
