my son was born in 94 and they had them in there like 2 days.
That's getting them through quickly. :)
I think I have all you beat. Turnarounds for births in Alberta (and
probably most of Western Canada) are pretty quick. My daughter was born
in June, 2007 at about midnight. She went home before noon the next day.
That was less than a 12-hour turnaround.
My son was born in 2006 and had an "extended" stay because they thought
he was a bit raspy when he cried (wanted to check for fluid, etc). He
went home within 36 hours.
When I was born (1976), my mom said that she stayed in the hospital for
about a week. Somewhere around the mid-90's is when they made huge
cutbacks in health spending in Alberta, and stays for births and certain surgeries were massively cut back to where they are basically
in-and-out.
I love having public healthcare, don't get me wrong, but you can
definitely see a stark difference in the level of care when the
taxpayers are paying for it. Especially in wait times for non-critical
care.
