Hi DM, this is my follow up from the "case sensitivity?" thread I posted on the weekend. I've conducted a series of tests this morning:
Test 1 - rename freeway.rep to FREEWAY.REP and upload using SyncTerm. This test worked fine.
Test 2 - upload FREEWAY.REP using Telix in DOSBox (other than being on a Windows PC, instead of an Android host, this is the same setup that failed on the weekend. This test also failed with the same error message, which was:
Protocol or Quit: Z
[–] Hang up after transfer? No
Start transfer now (Ctrl-X to abort):
˜ì˜–**000000023be50
[/sbbs/node2/temp/FREEWAY.rep]
End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.
unzip: cannot find zipfile directory in one of /sbbs/node2/temp/FREEWAY.rep or
/sbbs/node2/temp/FREEWAY.rep.zip, and cannot find /sbbs/node2/temp/FREEW
Can't Extract!
In both cases, the .REP was generated by Multimail under Windows, which is my normal offline reading setup at home, which eliminates the compression as a factor.
Finally, to eliminate the possibility of automatic 8.3 to lowercase conversion, I uploaded FREEWAY.ReP using SyncTerm. This one worked properly, as did using mixed case in the first part of the filename.
The
issue is something to do with the Telix/DOSBox combination. Note that downloading using Telix works perfectly well.
Any thoughts? Not urgent, as FTP is a perfectly good workaround to this issue.

unzip doesn't like the .rep file. Do you have a copy of the file?

Right. It could be the upload itself. Have you tried different
protocols (e.g. YMODEM vs. ZMODEM)?

Good, that's what I would expect.

An upload issue of some kind, I'm guessing. If you upload a random .zip file to your BBS (file areas) does the upload tester verify it successfully?

Just deleted it when reading this mail packet, but the ZIP file works perfectly when uploaded using SyncTerm, so it's not the zip file.

I was referring to the *received* file (on the BBS side). You might
have to grab it from the node's temp directory immediately after
upload.
