Hello everyone! I have a problem; when users trying to go on the web pages of synchronet to connect with the bbs on port 23 with ftelnet the system does not start and after a moment says: "unable to connect"; The BBS from the outside can be reached on port 23 using a Syncterm telnet client but when it is launched from the web page as ftelnet it does not work what can I check?

    Thank you

fTelnet doesn't connect directly to port 23; it connects to a websocket proxy server, which then relays traffic between your telnet server and the browser.

If you're running you're own websocket proxy server, you need to ensure that its port is open to the outside world.

The author of fTelnet hosts some proxy servers so that you don't have to do it yourself. You can get some embed code to put on your site from this page:

Ftelnet support for ecweb and sbbs had been dropped by the author. Yo have not left enought information to try to help fix your issues.

post a snippet of the webpage text that loads ftelnet.

Thanks for the reply; I use Synchronet BBS for windows and should already use
    a proxy weserver or not?
How do I enable the proxy webserver directly on my platform?

    Thank you

It's not platform specific, or optional. Also, be aware that a "proxy webserver" and a "websocket proxy server" are two different things.

How do I enable the proxy webserver directly on my platform?

My previous post pointed to a page that would let you use someone else's websocket proxy server, saving you from having to set one up on your own.

We do have a proxy service that you can run on your own, but it has some bugs that I want to sort out. Depending on what version of Synchronet you're running, this may be an option. There are probably third party solutions, but I don't know any offhand.

I had that problem as well...so, I just created a bulletin with the
FTelent Link that one can put in their web browser.

I ran into the same thing a while back. If it is the same thing I ran into, then it might have something to do with Flash itself. After a certain point it seems Flash was not allowing the connection to establish. If I used an older web browser with an older version of flash installed, it would work. Too many security issues in Flash may have led to this happening.

So, you can have everything setup correctly, have the correct port open (843 I think...), and it still won't work.

The newer HTML5 version of fTelnet is the way to go.

Depends on where you want it to show up on your website.

    web/root/pages/000-home.xjs maybe?
