I'm curious to see what kind of hardware y'all are running your BBSes
on. I get decent speed on my system using telnet or NNTP, but when
it's rendering web pages the system runs pretty slowly. Here's my rig:

    HP Pavilion 4540
    Celeron 533,
    ASUS Mobo
    192 MB RAM
8 GB IDE drive (5400 RPM, probably ATA/33. Old, could be an issue)
    Windows 2000 SP 4
    Netgear FA310TX 10/100 network card
    Netopia 3546 NAT router
with ports 20-21, 23, 80, 110 pointed to the BBS machine

    TW-Malk-Xpresit ATX *STANDARD* Build-It-Yourself (Non-Proprietary)
    AMD ATHLON 1.1GHZ
Yet Another Award AMI Bi0S Board
    1024MB SDRAM PC133
    200GB ATA/133-166 7200RPM WD HARD DRIVE
    250GB ATA/133-166 7200RPM WD HARD DRIVE
    120GB ATA/133-166 7200RPM GENERIC NO-NAME HARD DRIVE
    ALL Y0UR BASE ARE BEL0NG T0 MiCR0$0fT
    SMC Some-M#-or-other 10/100 NIC
Netgear IDKSTFU420 Wireless Router / Switch
With all the standard ports pointed to the BBS Machine for run of the mil server type operation stuff, with the exception of things that not everyone
on the planet who is a Sysop or Admin might be running, such as Unreal IRCD
on ports 6667-7000 (xpresit.ospreynet.info), SynchWeb alternate port 7820, MySQL on 3306, Binkp on 24554 (best guess off the top of my head cuz i'm too tired / lazy to check my configs right now... did I win a cookie? :-) via Internet Rex and my uber 3l1t3 NTTP (Network Time Travel Protocol) Server on an undisclosed port which obviously is only being mentioned for the sake of humor seeing as theres actually no such thing.

This is simply the BBS Machine / Domain Controller which is one of 6 PC's on my Local Area Network.

Any hints on how to speed up my machine?

Not sure for Win2k. However for XP I posted a bunch of Tweaks in Xpresit Net
    - Computers forum. Ya see XP SP2 is more stable than Win2k right now, but theres a trick to get it to not drag ass. For one, turn "X-Tra Pretty" mode OFF and use "Classic Display". Next, right click on the start button and select properties. Use Classic Start Menu. Customize. And all the way at the bottom of the list do NOT use personalized menus.

Beleive it or not, just those few little things make a big difference in performance. That'll also work on the M$ Server OS's too (Windows .NET and higher).
