Deuce has this planned but as for the ETA or priority level of it, he'd
be da man to ask.
AFAIK, this will probably be more integrated into the ircd in the future, and less on internal chat, which would need quite a bit of work.. if you remember, I had my internal chat fairly modded, but lost those in a hd
crash about a year and a half ago.. since, I've been using the local irc
for the chat in telnet, and it wouldn't be difficult to use a java based
irc client into the local system.

That would be cool! :-)
Hard to arrange, though. After all, you are either using a copy of SomeRandomTelnet v1.0 which either has a print feature or it doesn't, and there's not much SBBS can do about it, or you're using a browser which
most likely already does have a print feature.

Well, afaik, there IS a standard "Send the following to the local printer" ANSI code... but I bet few free packages support it.

Synch already has rlogin / outbound telnet to access MUD's, MOO's,
Yeah, I run a MOO here too, and have it set up as a door.

Sure ya could. Similar to the way you can use NTP without your telnet cl directly supporting it. How would one program such a thing? Well, I would be the one to ask :-)
Network Time Protocol? I don't use that very much, and even if I did
decide to start, I can't see how SBBS could make me start the local
client, or (conversely) prevent me from starting it.

I thik he's speaking of the transfer protocol called NTP (I wish the auth would have named it something else)
A google for "network transfer protocol ntp" doesn't immediately come up with any hits...

That simply means there is no "homepage" for it, and you can only downlo it via a bbs that has it in telnet file areas.
What it means is that it isn't mentioned anywhere in the 8,058,044,651 web pages Google is indexing at this moment...

Nemesis Transfer Protocol by Merciful Fate. It was created as an alternat to zmodem (and ftp for that mater) over telnet.
It works even if your telnet client doesnt support it (and to the best of knowledge, there are no telnet clients that do).
It's really a pretty nasty security hole though... I looked in to adding support to SyncTERM, then decided not to.

#2 I wouldn't test it if I could since NTP essentially accepts any sends it.
Unsolicited?
Yep.
Yeah... of course, if it was built into SyncTERM it *could* only accept incoming files from the BBS you're connected to... but I still couldn't test it.

Then again, having the ability for Synchronet to automatically u system clock via NTP would be awesome too :)
WTF for? There are perfectly good applications/utilities to do thi already!
