It seems everytime I use the door32.sys for xternals, it uses my real name no matter what I do. I always set it to not use real names, but it does just the same. Am I missing something here, or is that a door32.sys issue. I've Got one door that I have to use an alais with, and it's a door32.sys only door.

The door32.sys file format has 2 names, the user's alias (line 6) and the user's real name (line 7).

In Synchronet (SCFG) you have the option of using the user's real name in *both* fields. If you look at the door32.sys file generated by sbbs, you'll see it change when you toggle the "Use Real Names" option.

There is no sbbs/scfg option to place the user's *alias* in both name fields of the door32.sys file.

Either way I config it, real name or alias, it's showing my real name. I was under the impression that synchronet swapped fields if you selected use alias when selecting the drop file and answering the use alias, and use all uppercase or lowercase names. The door only reads line 7 I'm assuming.

No, it doesn't swap the alias and real name.

That's what it sounds like. So... I'm not clear how you could be required to use an alias when the door clearly wants your real name.
