• sbbs binkd and outbound.015

    From Nelgin@VERT/EOTLBBS to All on Saturday, October 14, 2017 15:11:25
    I've read a bit about this issue but I'm not sure I really understand it
    and certainly can't seem to resolve it.

    I'm trying to configure fsxnet. In binkd I have
    domain fidonet /sbbs/fido/outbound 1
    domain advnet /sbbs/fido/outbound 3333
    domain fsxnet /sbbs/fido/outbound 21
    address 1:124/5016@fidonet 33:409/999@advnet 21:2/101@fsxnet
    node 21:2/100@fsxnet error404bbs.ddns.net:24555 xxhiddenxx c

    My sbbsecho.ini section looks like this

    [node:21:2/100]
    Comment = fsxnet
    AreafixPwd = xxhiddenxx
    PacketPwd =
    PacketType = 2+
    Archive = None
    Inbox =
    Outbox =
    Passive = false
    Direct = false
    Notify = false
    Keys =
    Status = Normal

    Now a look at sbbsecho.log
    2017-10-14 14:35:57 SBBSecho 3.01-Linux r3.39 Oct 13 2017 GCC 5.4.0 invoked with options: -linf
    2017-10-14 14:35:57 7 packers, 9 linked-nodes, 0 echolists configured 2017-10-14 14:35:57 Packing NetMail (1.msg) from Nigel Reed (21:2/101) to Areafix (21:2/100), attr: 0183, subject: xxhiddennxx
    2017-10-14 14:35:57 Routing NetMail (1.msg) to 21:2/100
    2017-10-14 14:35:57 Creating outbound directory for 21:2/100: /sbbs/fido/outbound.015/
    2017-10-14 14:35:57 Node (21:2/100) successfully locked via: /sbbs/fido/outbound.015/00020064.bsy
    2017-10-14 14:35:57 Adding NetMail (1.msg) to new packet for 21:2/100: /sbbs/fido/outbound.015/00020064.out
    2017-10-14 14:35:57 Deleting /sbbs/netmail/1.msg (from line 4345)

    So, I either need to get binkd to read outgoing messages to zone 21 from outbound.015 or get sbbs to put outbound messages for zone 21 in the outbound directory.

    Does anyone have an easy to follow solution for this?

    Thanks,

    node 21:2/100@fsxnet error404bbs.ddns.net:24555 xxhiddenxx c

    Change all your above domains to use Zone 1 such as...

    domain fidonet /sbbs/fido/outbound 1
    domain advnet /sbbs/fido/outbound 1
    domain fsxnet /sbbs/fido/outbound 1

    Binkd will then create the proper folder for it (outbound.015 for fsxnet and outbound.021 for advnet)

    Well, that's counte-intuitive but it seems to have done the trick.

    Thanks,

    it isn't counter-intuitive, really... it is the way 4D BSO works... it does, at
    least, give it some semblance of domain support... 5D does that and is how you were configured before... the problem is that everything that works with your BSO outbound all need to support the format... if you have one tool that only does 3D BSO (no points) then all of them have to be configured as 3D... 4D is the most common, though... developers were leaving when full 5D was starting to
    take off and a lot of FTN software is left with 4D as the best they can do...

    Yep, that's the problem and correct fix.
