    Tony,

However, I carry no electrical charge, and can be handled safely. <G>

I dunno, handling you still sounds shocking. :P

That's what she said (hi hi).

Seriously, my late XYL wanted to get into ham radio (she was actively involved in the BBS, and that's how we met), but she "had mic fright",
and didn't want to get on the air. I told her (as I tell others with
this same "condition") that "you can operate the digital modes, and let
your computer do all the work for you...identifying your station, and
all you do is type back and forth.

Great news for the BBS community and linux users... %JoHo%, the autho of Frontdoor is back in the mix and he's working on a possible linux version of FD...

I did read that somewhere. I was a Bink user back in the day, my only interaction with FD was over a modem, not on my own system.

JoHo came back about a week or so ago. He's working on Frontdoor, porting it to Linux and Windows from what I can read.... this is great news for us BBS SysOps... there aren't a lot of people supporting their software, like DM does... It can be argued that because of JoHo, et al's work the BBS
community would not be what it was... well the echo mail side of things. He
is the father of that technology.

I'm waiting to see what develops there...

did you have problems using netfoss?

I did move on... Sometimes netfoss would load and the door wouldn't, most of the time it would load ... then the door wouldn't. I really wanted to get Rusty's door's to work and they just didn't. I mean i put hours into
trying to make them work... all the author would do is cut and past his help file in response to my questions...

that's too bad you had an experience like that. i know some thing seem alien when you are used to doing things one way. i know there are some mystic guys that would have the same problems with synchronet that you
    had with mystic.

Not use to doing it one way. I ran Remote Access for years... I have also
ran WINServer and SynchroNET. Though SynchroNET has the issue locked down tight... I have made doors work in several other BBS packages and as well different OSes. I could not break the code to make it work.

    always backup!

Nope, its asking to reinstall windows... I bought a raspbarry pi, a small divice that has linux installed on it. Where I have installed MysticBBS on
it. I have just finished up things, I'll setup a VM to do the doors... I'll
    be good to go.

of an idiot like myself can get it working, you can. i would just use ubuntu server and make sure all your requirements are installed first before compiling.

I am new to Linux, I can't get things installed because of me, when it comes
to Linux... BBS software I have licked... :)

    Tim,

I'm getting me a PI sometime soon.. I already have a bunch of Arduino boards K>with atmega chip (tons can be done with them). I bash successfully runnig on K>Wii, I wonder if it's possible to build SBBS on the Wii.. seems far fetched :

I don't know much about a Raspberry Pi...but a pineapple upside down cheesecake sounds awfully good right now!! <G>

Why are you throwing all the blame on others and away from yourself?

Many people were trying to help you, including me (and I don't even run Mystic!). You were asked to copy/paste or take screenshots of your configuration files so we could see if there was anything missed, a typo made somewhere, or something you may not have noticed no matter how many times you yourself went over it.

Instead, you told everyone that your configurations were fine, and that you've been a BBS sysop since 1991 (so you know what you're doing), and it was Mystic's fault, not yours. Not once did you take help from anyone that tried helping you - after you specifically asked for it.

There are dozens of Mystic sysops with door games setup - whether it be on Windows or Linux, yet you blamed the software and author multiple times for your inability to get said doors to work on your Mystic setup.

Whatever people were trying to help you, gave up because you wouldn't actually take the help and/or listen to anything they were saying.

    Regards,
    Nick

I have been quite clear on this... period... "I" could not for the life of me get the doors to work, I got one or twoe I didn't like.... but I have been
more than clear about my in ability to get it to work... period...

My work around was simple, use SBBS as a door server.... problem solved.

To this day I do not know, or now want to know, how to get doors, or the ones
I want, to work wih MysticBBS.

I have since changed OSes to Linux with the use of a Raspbarry Pi box... and I'll do nothing of the sort to try and get my BBS to load a door.... I'll use said door server and be quite Okay with it...

Again... if you forgot what I said.... I could not get the doors to work...
it was ME.... The software is awesome, where as I had the problem.

The author did call me a troll though, he thought I was faking an issue to
make him look bad. This was/is not the case.

I currently run mystic, just no local doors

You weren't so clear on the part where you "asked" for help, yet when people tried to help you, you became combatant and refused to be helped.

As long as the door server isn't on that Pi, you should be fine.

You only changed your tune to that _after_ the author stopped you from blaming his software every time you posted. I didn't forget anything at all.

The author did call me a troll though, he thought I was faking an
issue to make him look bad. This was/is not the case.

I'd like to go back and check on that, to be honest. If I remember right, he only "asked" you if you were trolling since you refused any help people were trying to give to you - yet kept complaining about the fact that it didn't work
    for you.

I currently run mystic, just no local doors

And that's your choice, of course. However, the next time you tell the story, hopefully it doesn't continue to stray from truth.
