I am still trying to get my inbound SMTP working. I have a mail reflector.
However, Synchronet spends ~20 seconds going through its DNSBL (blacklist) search. This causes the reflector service to decide there is no response, even though my server does eventually respond.
Is there a way to turn that lookup off, or to at least stop it from
checking the "slow" site?:
4/23 14:03:03 mail 0021 SMTP DNSBL Query: 133.57.131.67.sbl.spamhaus.org 4/23 14:03:04 mail 0021 SMTP DNSBL Query: 133.57.131.67.bl.spamcop.net
4/23 14:03:04 mail 0021 SMTP DNSBL Query: 133.57.131.67.list.dsbl.org
4/23 14:03:24 mail 0021 SMTP DNSBL Query: 133.57.131.67.blacklist.spambag.org <==== TOO SLOW!!!
4/23 14:03:24 mail 0021 SMTP DNSBL Query: 133.57.131.67.blacklist.spambag.org resolved to: 72.52.4.119
I tried multiple times, and there is always at least a 20 second delay between list.dsbl.org and blacklist.spambag.org.
I also question the usefulness of this check because it not only flags my reflector as being on a bad list, if I telnet to port 587 at my address it flags my own IP as a being on a list, too, and since I am not set up to
deny or throttle blacklisted sites, it does not really do me much good to have it search for them.
