Has anyone had success using a smartphone app to connect with sync nntp? I've tried several Android apps. Get initial login user / pw success, but times out trying to download the conference list to subscribe to. Works fine on my desktop pc.

I use NewsTap but it's for iOS. Try reducing the number of areas you want to download to say two or three to start and go from there. See if the problem still arises.

there is two program out there, one I do use, but you have to have a front door program to use it (for your bbs), one is called HotdogEd Fidonet Provider http://tinyurl.com/m34eptu
and also you need HotdogEd Editor

I had tried a couple of Android NNTP apps with my BBS, and it seemed to work fine.
