Okay, so my reply may come a little too late but this is exactly my current Probelm. I've moved my synchronet bbs to a RPi model B+ just a few days ago and am now looking into the very same subject. And things didn't change much since the original post was written I'm afraid.

I know that many Synchronet sysops have been able to run their BBS on t RPi, so I was wondering how you made the dos doors work, if at all.

There are some instructions on http://dosbox.bbsdev.net that seem a little outdated to me. However I used the shell script along with Raspbian's stock dosbox 0.74. But I do get nothing but a black screen and a blinking cursor in the upper left corner of my terminal window once I try to run the door from within synchronet. I use the bnu fossil driver from within dosbox and have set serial1=nullmodem inhsocket:1 telnet:1 in dosbox.conf

Also, there is one post on vogons.org (http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=29039) where it is assumed that socket inheritance may be broken in dosbox 0.74 but used to work in 0.73. I've tried to compile 0.73 on current raspbian but got compile errors right away (not surprised: 0.73 dates back to 2009).

Regarding dosbox performance and synchronet performance on a Pi B+, I'd say that you better get a Pi2 or Pi3 to run your stuff. Not only dosbox but also several javascript doors are dead slow on a B+. A faster Pi will be the next investment I'll make. Seriously.

Anyway, if someone has knowledge regarding synchronet and dosbox I'd be happy if he/she may share it with me.
