Odd issue I've noticed: when I post a message to DOVE-net on a BBS that is NOT my own, but where the "from" field is the same as the username I have as the SysOp (user #1, Synchronet) on my BBS, those messages do not ever enter the message bases on my BBS.
(BTW, I've been posting as my real name, Josh Ramsey, from Digital Distortion. I'm trying now from Pharcyde, as I used a handle there.)
Here's what happened. The other day, I posted several messages from Digital Distortion, where my posting name is Josh Ramsey, just as it is on my personal Synchronet setup. I noted that the messages I'd sent never arrived, being tipped off to the issue when I started getting replies to my posts without ever having seen my posts in the "new" scan. I logged into several other BBSes, including Vertrauen, and noted that the messages from "Josh Ramsey" had gotten there all right, and also that all the other messages posted in the same time frame had been imported correctly into my personal installation.
So, has anyone ever seen this behavior in a QWK net or with Synchronet, or would anybody know what's going on? It's really quite odd, I think!

Are you saying that you're using the user name/alias "Synchronet"? That could be a problem. Whatever the alias is, double-check your text/*.can files and ctrl/twitlist.cfg files - it's possible the name is just being blocked/filtered.
Are they duplicate messages maybe (the text body is the same as some other posted message)?

No. I'd only posted them once, no other message containing identical bodies. Every one of them over the course of a couple of days in several echoes failed to reach my install, though all other messages in the same time frame did.
Could it somehow be that when I post on other DOVE-net boards that it is getting marked as "read," and then when my board connects to Vertrauen, the QWK packet excludes those messages, sort of as it would if I were a regular user downloading a normal packet? I'm not sure what sort of metadata comes with messages in QWK.

I know I just replied, but I did a little more investigating, this time rechecking the QWK Settings for my QWK networking account at Vertrauen.
The option "Include Messages from You" is set to "off," as per the instructions at the Synchronet wiki. Though I can't check the regular account settings, since the QWK account can only go into the QWK menu, I wonder if I'd set my "real name" field in that account to "Josh Ramsey." That might cause that no mail "from you" filter to catch the messages I'd written on the other BBS.
If that is the case, then I guess the issue isn't so weird, after all. It just SEEMED really spooky at first.
