• gallery_ex setup Question

From Lith@VERT/ASIRTA to All on Saturday, October 10, 2015 11:18:31
I was trying to test the gallery_ex to see how it works. I downloaded ImageMagick-6.9.2-4-Q8-x86-dll and installed it as it says in the readme file to generate a thumbnail file. on Windows 7 32 bit.

After installation of Imagemagick, there is a path statement as below with the variable name "path"

    C:\Program Files\ImageMagick-6.9.2-Q8;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%Syste mRoot%\System32\Wbem;%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\

With ImageMagick installed, there are still no thumbnails being generated. Anyone know what I need to do to get the thumbnails working for the pictures?

You can view the pictures, just no thumbnails being generated. I tried looking at the gallery in Internet Explorer "which has frames" and in firefox "No Frames". I'm thinking the gallery_ex scripts can't find the ImageMajick path correctly. Any clue on how to get the thumbnails working?

Thanks in advance for the help,

    Lith,

I haven't looked at that code for years... and my computer is not actually accessable right now. I'll try to remember to take a look when my house is done.

Thanks, the program works fine. I like how you can define web folder access using synchronet security. I'm not sure how this works, but I'm assuming if I set the folder security groups correctly, then people can't access the folders.

The only problem I had with the program, is that the thumbnails don't show up.
but, when you click on the placeholder thumbnail it does link to the picture.

I was troubleshooting the program and install imagemajik where I tested the convert utility and the convert utility "by itself" works fine. But, by default, gallery_ex does not point to the "convert" command anymore.

Now, I'm busy working on other stuff, (forgot how time-consuming it is to run a website/BBS) but eventually I'll make it back to troubleshooting gallery_ex since it looks like a nice addition to synchronet.

It's the beginings of something cool, but it's not completely there yet. As I recally, when I used it, I ran a script that generated all the thumbnails sequentially rather than wait for them to be genreated the first time the page was loaded.
