Re: International encodings

Hi everyone,
I've been hosting a Synchronet BBS for years, but due to people talking in languagues different than English, extended ASCII characters are not displayed or written correctly. For example: ¤ ‚ ¡ ¢ £ ¨
I wonder if there is a way for Synchronet to use the right encoding. The place where I suffer this most is in the Fidonet R34 area (Spain).
Any ideas?
Synchronet does not currently support anything but US-ASCII and CP437. If the client is configured to use another character set and the message area contains
messages using that character set, then Synchronet would just pass the bytes through and that'd work fine, but then "extended ASCII" (CP437) won't look right.
