hi i just installed zyxelnet and i can send and receive netmail with my nc no prob, however the problem him and i are having is when i try to areafix i get the error "unknown echo area" he has removed and reinstalled zyxel on my sys hisself and i have done it a couple times to no avail.
i have tried totally removing the echo area and deleting all data files related to it in sbbs\data\subs, than removing all traces of it from areas.bbs
after that i rebooted synchronet and reinstalled the echo areas, than exported em and still get the areafix error
my NC says its not showing a error on his side so its gotta be a sync setting, any idea?

well, i think i am gonna just drop the conference we have tried installing it a couple times now to no avail with the newest zyxelnet.na file he had, i can use fido, advnet and familynet no prob its just the zyxel thats buggin things up and i dont think the headache is really worth it.
as for misspelling, all i did was a straight import than i did a areafix list request and compared the names that got exported to areas.bbs with what i got back in the list and they matched but when i try to do any other command besides list i get the unknown echo area msg back but, he still insists its not showing on his side.
I know ZyXEL is the name of a company, but what is "zyxelnet"? Is that just an echotag or an entire network? What *exactly* are you putting in your areafix request message?

Could it just be your signature or something else in the message causing the "unknown echo area" message? Try putting a tear line (---) after your request text.

did you try talking to the network cordinator about the issue?

Zyxelnet is devoted to the users of Zyxel products Rob. As for his problems, the import is importing stuff that should not be there. There are remarks, and extra stuff for different regions. Remove the extraneous stuff and I think it will work.

He'd mentioned his conversation process with his NC in a few messages. Keep up.
gee, thanks for the update, future boy.
oh i looked and didnt see any.

crap! no wonder he's having problems... that's almost RAID format as
used for file distribution area lists... it is the only format i'm
aware of that uses '%' as a comment indicator...
The main NA echos are lister normally
without the leading '%' characters?
it almost seems to me that the file is deisgned to be copied to another name and edited to remove all the ""fluff'n'stuff"" and then import the resulting from there... remove the '%' chars from the regional and/or zonal lines that you have access to so they are not commented out...
then delete all the remaining comment lines so there's a nice clean
file to work with...

In the .NA file you just showed Joe, why are the % signs before the areas?

I've never seen a list like this before.

Yes, The main areas not zome specific do not have the leading %

I would think the same
like i said, it looks like RAID format for files areas... take a look at your FILEGATE.ZXX file if you pull file distribution areas from the filegate ;) there's more info in a RAID format file but %' lines are comments in that format...
appears to me to be the only way... i wonder if there's some documentation for zyxelnet that is missing?? something that explains this type of stuff to new members...

I've not seen a filegate.Zxx file. I have them here in one of the
file areas, but have never really looked at them

One would hope so. There was nothing with the .NA file that I was
sent to look at and play with.
you should ;)
IIRC, my allfix setup uses them directly... i think it is probably the only file distribution software, other than the original RAID, that does...

of course not... not unless it was included in the comments at the top of the file... most likely, if there is/was anything along the lines of documentation, it would have been in the information and signup package...

One of these days :)

The only file processors I use here are both Tic processors. I have the Husky version for certain things, and the original TIC processor for others.
i haven't put the husky one to work over here... i don't know what the "original TIC processor" is that you speak of... in my mind, that is RAID which set the standard and started the whole file distribution movement...

The original Tic processor was written by Berry Geller. It will hatch files as well.
