I read in Synchronet FidoNet Packet Tosser Documntation about an included mailer.bat. Did not see one in documentation or a sample one. Where can I find one? Want to automate sbbsecho, etc.

The old mailer.bat has been obsoleted long ago. SBBSecho is now automated by the FIDOIN and FIDOOUT timed events configured by default in SCFG->External Programs->Timed Events.

I just copied the commandline from the FIDOIN event, then added in whatever maintenance I wanted to run alongside it.

Hi, I have a question. I have drawn some logon screens for my board. They are more than 20 characters long. Is there a way to slow down the ansi, so that it can be viewed. That is without pauses. I could delay the ansi with an @code@, but I can't slow down the speed at wich it's displayed. Internet is fast these days, when viewed without a pause screen, it blows by.

    Thanks

    ... My other computer is a 486.

You could put an @pause@ at the end to display a "hit a key" prompt and wait for the user to acknowledge that they have viewed the file.

Or you could insert Ctrl-A codes which insert delays (e.g. Ctrl-A followed by '.'). The newer versions of the ANS2ASC utility support inserting these codes for you if you wish:

    Synchronet ANSI-Terminal-Sequence to Ctrl-A-Code Conversion Utility v1.9

    usage: ans2asc infile.ans [outfile.asc] [[option] [...]]

    options:

-clear insert a clear screen code at beginning of output file
-pause append a pause (hit a key) code to end of output file
-delay <interval> insert a 1/10th second delay code at output byte interval
(lower interval values result in more delays, slower display)

you can save it as animation in Thedraw and slow it down.

you might not even need animation, it might even do it in Block mode, been years since I've used thedraw, will be dusting it off soon :)

To slow things down and see them drawn, I use SyncTerm. You can slow the speed down at which the data comes in and is displayed. By default, it is as fast as it can, but holding down Alt and hitting the Up or Down keys, you can simulate 300 - 115200 baud. Works great!

I think he wants something that will work for all his users, not just SyncTerm users (and something that doesn't require the user to change any of their settings). As others have already suggested, there are ways to do that, by inserting pause/delay codes in the ANSI or possibly by using ANSI animation, etc..

Another way of achieving this that works for some terminals is some unofficial ANSI control sequences that you can output before display of art.

For example, the following sequence would enable 9600 baud emulation:

    ESC[1;6*r

honestly i wish some of these krad bbses would stop it with the 2 page ansis. after you see them a few times, it's just aggrivating.

there are ansi codes that you can use to slow down the display of ansis.
there are a few ways to do it, actually.

he can also insert various types of atcode pauses in the ansi every 3 or so lines.
