Wouldn't it be a little more advantageous for you to *ASK* if it's a BUG at first? There may be something you're missing. Or if it's that important to you, download a QWK packet and use an offline reader. You can put anything in there then... :)

While that very well may be a bug, it is up to the person using the feature to know where they're cross-posting a message. You cross posted your message to a bunch of Fidonet echos that had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with your post. That part of it was your own fault that people complained.

As for the "bug" I suppose SlyEdit should check the message sub-board's configuration to see whether it is set for real name or alias.

    Regards,
    Nick

I have made a fix to SlyEdit for that bug. Now it should use the user's real name or alias appropriately for the 'From' name when cross-posting into other message areas. You can download the new SlyEdit package here: ftp://digitaldistortionbbs.com/bbs/SYNC_JS/SlyEd144.zip

I have also updated the SlyEdit files in the Synchronet CVS repository with the new version.

You did not have a "?" at the end of that in your original post (it was a "!"), and the way it was worded was as a statement rather than a question. This is what I saw in your original message about the bug:

but synchronet/Slyedit take like everything is the main one you take (ALAIS)
    to
write your message , this is a BUG !

There are a couple of small but significant differences between this phrase:

    "this is a BUG !"

    and this phrase:

    "Is this a bug?"

The first reads like an angry/indignant exclamation, while the second version is just a question. In this context, "bug" is a word and not an acronym, so there's no reason to render it in caps unless you want to add emphasis or give the impression that you're shouting.

When communicating via text, minor differences in capitalization and punctuation can have a big impact on the way your message is interpreted by the reader. The others who didn't like your post had every right and reason not to, based on what they had to go on. Me, I chalked the apparent rudeness up to the fact that English is clearly not your first language.

slyedit is not part of synchornet, it is a 3rd party message editor.
