    Anybody dealt much with ftelnet?
I can't seem to find any documentation, and was wondering if it was possible to set a size for it and possibly scale it depending on browser window size?

There is some documentation available in the fTelnet package that's available for download. On the fTelnet site (http://www.ftelnet.ca), click the 'Download' link on the top toolbar, then scroll down a bit - Under the heading "Self-host the client, use the public proxy" and "Self-host everything", there's a link that says "Download the client". That should take you to the GitHub page for fTelnet. On that page, click the 'Download ZIP' link. Unzip that, and then go to the fTelnet-master\release\docs directory and open index.html. There's a section in that page titled "How to customize", which lists some JavaScript properties you can set to control fTelnet. Two of the properties are ScreenColumns and ScreenRows, which let you set the number of columns & rows. As far as detecting the browser window size and scaling, I'm not sure on that, but I'd guess that there are probably some JavaScript functions that let you detect browser window size.

I find that Ftelnet seems to display at 720 x 400 no matter what dimensions are specified. However, Ftelnet recommends keeping the dimensions at 100% x 100% in a web environment.

    Kind regards,

That's kinda what I was afraid of. 720x400 just looks too pathetic on 1080p displays.

I'd like to point it out that ftelnet has a contact link where you
can talk to the author. he's also on irc frequently.

Thanks Night, Unfortunately doesn't look like I can get it quite as large as I'd like it on 1080p+ screens, but it's still good info in there.

The Quality is good, but the text is pretty small for some folks.
Personally I like running syncterm fullscreen on a secondary 19" (non-widescreen) to get the real experience.

are they sitting across the room?

ir an syncterm fullscreen and i didnt like it scaled to my large display.
for me it didnt look genuine like the old days when your client was full screen.

Does it matter? Why are you trying to judge a subjective thing? Either way, on a 23" 1080p display it's somewhere between half and 2/3 of the size of average webpage text. Plenty of people find that uncomfortable. If you don't, that's fine, but why judge when someone asks a simple question about resizing?

ir an syncterm fullscreen and i didnt like it scaled to my large display. for me it didnt look genuine like the old days when your client was full screen.

YMMV, I don't like the fullscreen on any widescreen displays, or bigger than 20-ish inches, but I find on the older 19" I found sitting around that fullscreen comes very very close to the old terminal experience. Like I say, YMMV.

It's the feedback I get from users who have tried it, and I tend to agree. While it is readable, it's more uncomfortable to do so than even a standard web page.

also did you ever contact the author?

That seems to be your answer to everything, and it's not helpful. Want to know why it's a good idea for people to ask in an echo or forum first? Author's tend to get a lot of the same questions, and if that question can be answered by others who have dealt with the same issues instead, it provides that answer for any other people who might be looking for it so that they also do not have to contact the author. This allows the author to actually have a chance to respond to less frequently asked questions.

If you insist on telling everyone to contact the author, might I suggest you at least make that input SOMEWHAT useful by AT LEAST sharing some input on what you have found to be the best way to contact people? Because quite frankly, people can figure out that contacting a developer is an option without you stating it as a reply to every question. /Rant

The flash-based version of fTelnet that comes with Synchronet does not support auto-sizing based on the browser window size. At least not natively...using some javascript this would be possible.

The new html5-based version of fTelnet natively supports this, but I haven't gotten around to putting it on cvs, so you have to manually set it up with Synchronet. The easiest way to do so is to embed it via an iframe, the code for which you can generate at http://embed.ftelnet.ca

Make sure you enable the websocketservice.js service, and then use the "I run my own proxy" option when using the embed wizard.

Otherwise, I think bootstrap is your friend. I'm not trying to sell something here; just trying to help. If you want to shit on my solution, that's fine, but I'd prefer you digest the food first.
