• Email Message To Myself

From DesotoFireflite@VERT/VALHALLA to All on Saturday, December 13, 2014 16:29:21
I have a program I have to check on a weekly bases to see if a file exist. I want to automate this process, and if the file exist, send an email to myself. I know I can use SMBUTIL.EXE, but I'm not sure of the command line for a private email to myself. I figure it's as follows, but I don't know the name of the data file to open. Any help will be appreciated.

    smbutil.exe ec:\sbbs\xtrn\lotto\sysop.log -t"DesotoFireflite" -f"Lotto Valhalla" -s"Weekly Lotto Winners" <data file>

I'd like to know, too -- I'm adding some automation to the BBS and would like to be able to email the results.

Easy fix. Set up a private echo, that only you can read, specifically for that purpose.

SMBUTIL won't do FidoNet netmail (well, technically, it's SBBSecho that won't pull the FidoNet netmail from the mail base), but in anycase, SMBUTIL will import a message for private email or Internet email just fine.

Not as easy as SMBUTIL posting to netmail, but you could set up that private echo, then use the listserv feature to send to an email address. Thanks for the idea!

That's exactly what I did for my MOD UPD every month to the echolist. Use the listserv. Works great!!
