Why or how would a NAT associated with a router be picked up by a Synch QWK pkt? Nightfox, you experimenting with your router again... ;)

192.168.1.1 is an internal IP address (usually used by a router). It sounds like something is not configured properly to recognize external IP addresses, although I'm not sure why that would be the case.

Apparently you have 192.168.1.1 in your text/ip.can file. You should probably remove any 192.168.* or 10.* addresses from your filter files.

192.168.* is a "private address", which means the message was posted by a client attached to the BBSes local area (private) network. This is not uncommon
and represents a sysop's client connection to his own BBS, most likely.

Yeah, weird -- 192.168.1.1 is the address of my router, but I see external IPs just fine in my other logs. I'll mark it up to a NAT glitch in my router and give it a reboot.

Interesting -- I found the following in text\ip.can:

; NNTP - TOO MANY CONSECUTIVE FAILED LOGIN ATTEMPTS by guest on Thu Oct 30 2014 192.168.1.1

I'm rebooting my router now, sounds like it might have screwed up the NAT transaction.

It has nothing to do with your system or router. The IP address of the posting client is stored in the originating BBS's message base and sent out to DOVE-net
via QWK REP packet. 192.168.1.1 is the IP address of the message *poster*.
