Hello everyone,
I am having some email server issues. Specifically POP3. I have checked
my firewall and all is good. I even opened up the firewall to allow
port 110 the stock listening port. It is forwarding to my synchronet server machine. However, I cannot get mail from outside to the mail server. It is acting as if the port is closed. Does anyone know whta
this could possibly be?

Sounds like port 25 is closed, which is normal for most IP's to do these days. You're probably going to have to get a redirect or work with DM and have him forward the email to you via QWK.

Hello Bill, I guess maybe I should have been a little more specific. My mail is going out through a relay. So mail going out is not a problem.
The problem is that nothing is coming in. Email servers are not able to connect to me on port 110. So the incoming mail is the issue.

you have 25 and your IP is blocking 25, then you need an outside source to redirect it from 25 to say the port I use 465. I use NO-IP as my redirect host. They're expensive but relable.

I use DNSexit.com for a combination of dynamic DNS, mail redirection
and domain hosting. They've been rock-solid reliable the past 2 years
and they're only $24.99/year.

I am not talking about going out. That's your submission port. Go to www.canyouseeme.com and see if port 25 is open. That's the port used by your incoming SMTP. In sbbs.ini, what do you have listed for SMTPPORT? If you have 25 and your IP is blocking 25, then you need an outside source to redirect it from 25 to say the port I use 465. Hello Bill, Thanks for the heads up. Your right it appears that my isp
is blocking port 25.
